Midnight Opens Three-Wave Buildathon With $12,500 in Grants
The online program will guide privacy application teams through three development stages, with direct evaluation from Midnight and a path into its eight-week Build Club.

Midnight has announced a three-month online Buildathon for teams developing applications with built-in data protection. A kickoff workshop will take place on August 26, followed by the first development stage on August 27. The program will distribute $12,500 in grants before concluding in mid-November.
Midnight Distributes Grants Across Three Development Waves
Wave 1 runs from August 27 to September 16 and includes $3,500 in grants. Wave 2 is scheduled from September 27 to October 17 with $4,000 available, while Wave 3 runs from October 27 to November 16 and allocates the remaining $5,000.
Participants can submit their work, receive feedback and improve the same product during the following stage. Projects will be evaluated directly by the Midnight team based on their implementation, product direction and relevance to the network.
Registration and program delivery are managed through AKINDO. The online kickoff workshop begins on August 26 at 13:00 UTC.
Developers Build Privacy-Preserving Applications on Midnight
Midnight is a blockchain focused on programmable privacy and operates as a Cardano partner chain. It allows applications to verify information or specific conditions without publishing all of the underlying data.
Users can prove identity attributes, eligibility, compliance or ownership while retaining control over the information used for verification. The same architecture can support applications involving financial records, business data and other sensitive information.
Developers build smart contracts with Compact, Midnight’s programming language for combining public blockchain state with privately controlled data.
Midnight also uses a resource model in which holding $NIGHT generates DUST, the resource required for transactions and smart contract execution. Consuming DUST does not reduce the underlying $NIGHT balance, separating network operations from ownership of the native asset.
Selected Teams Can Enter Midnight Build Club
Top-performing teams will have an opportunity to continue through Midnight Build Club, an eight-week program supporting early projects as they move toward viable products.
Build Club includes technical and business mentorship, product development support and preparation for investor presentations. Selected projects may later gain access to the Midnight Accelerator, deeper technical integration, follow-on funding and go-to-market support.
When Wave 3 closes on November 16, Midnight will have three successive development stages from which to evaluate participating projects. Selected teams will then move directly from the Buildathon into the eight-week Build Club.
