Crypto Crow Buys NIGHT After Wanchain Incident, Expects It to Outperform ADA

Jason Appleton said he sold part of his ADA holdings to buy a “fairly sizable amount” of $NIGHT below two cents. He also named one cent as a possible next buying level and explained why he expects NIGHT to outperform ADA during the next major market cycle.

Cardano News - Crypto Crow Buys NIGHT After Wanchain Incident, Expects It to Outperform ADA

Jason Appleton, known as Crypto Crow, increased his NIGHT position after approximately 515 million tokens left Wanchain’s Cardano-side bridge treasury and substantial volumes reached Cardano DEXs. In his latest video, the Cardano DRep and content creator connected the purchase to his view that the incident did not change Midnight’s long-term direction.

Crypto Crow Buys NIGHT Below Two Cents

Appleton said he bought a “fairly sizable amount” of $NIGHT at a price below two cents. He funded the purchase by selling a smaller portion of the ADA position he had previously accumulated between approximately 13 and 16 cents.

He did not disclose the exact number of tokens purchased but described the transaction as significant relative to his portfolio. The purchase expanded an existing NIGHT position rather than establishing a new one.

Appleton also said he would consider buying more if the price moved toward one cent. He acknowledged that he did not know whether the market had reached its bottom or how many additional tokens could enter circulation because of the incident.

The trade followed the removal of approximately 515 million NIGHT from Wanchain’s Cardano bridge treasury. A large portion subsequently reached Cardano decentralized exchanges, where the additional supply created immediate selling pressure.

A preliminary analysis from BlockSec linked the movement to a possible vulnerability in Wanchain’s Cardano validator. Wanchain had not published a complete postmortem or final reserve accounting when Appleton released his video.

Appleton Separates Wanchain Bridge Risk From Cardano and Midnight

Appleton’s explanation focused on the distinction between blockchain protocols and the external infrastructure connecting separate networks. In his assessment, the incident affected Wanchain’s bridge rather than Cardano or Midnight.

The Midnight Foundation reported that Midnight’s protocol, validator network, consensus mechanism and core infrastructure continued operating normally. The investigation centered on Wanchain’s infrastructure connecting Cardano and BNB Chain.

Midnight is a privacy-focused Cardano partner chain built for applications requiring protected data, selective disclosure and programmable compliance. The $NIGHT token is its public native and governance asset.

Holding NIGHT generates DUST, a shielded and non-transferable network resource used to pay transaction fees and execute smart contracts. Developers can use DUST to cover application costs for users, allowing people to interact with Midnight applications without holding or spending NIGHT directly.

Appleton used the incident to discuss the security boundaries surrounding bridges, wallets and applications. Cardano continued processing transactions, while the reported token movement originated from infrastructure responsible for validating transfers between two blockchain networks.

He also raised the possibility that artificial intelligence may have been used to identify the vulnerability. Appleton presented AI involvement as a possibility and did not state that it had been confirmed.

Why Crypto Crow Expects NIGHT to Outperform ADA

Appleton expects NIGHT to generate a larger percentage return than ADA during the next major market cycle. His comparison is based primarily on the prices at which he accumulated the two assets.

He previously bought ADA between approximately 13 and 16 cents, while the Wanchain incident allowed him to purchase NIGHT below two cents. Appleton said the lower entry price gives NIGHT greater room for a larger multiplier if Midnight attracts users, applications and capital.

Midnight’s official token information lists a fixed total supply of 24 billion NIGHT. Community allocations are subject to a 450-day thawing period, with equal portions becoming available quarterly.

NIGHT provides governance rights, contributes to network security and generates the DUST required to operate applications. Because users consume DUST rather than NIGHT, transaction activity does not reduce their underlying token holdings or associated governance rights.

Appleton’s position now has three stated markers: a purchase below two cents, a possible additional purchase near one cent and an expectation that NIGHT will exceed ADA’s percentage return during the next major cycle. His decision rests on the distinction he made throughout the video, the Wanchain bridge was affected, while Cardano continued processing transactions and Midnight’s core infrastructure remained operational.
