Nuvola Digital announced on October 5 that a Nuvola Drive update is available on Android, iOS, and the web. The team described improvements to everyday file operations as it continues preparing the product for production readiness. Drive uses Vola Network for storage infrastructure, with Cardano supporting the financial layer described by its developers.
Nuvola Drive Updates Transfers, Sync and Sharing
The announced changes cover file transfer speed, synchronization security, sharing, and previews. They address how users move files into their storage, keep copies synchronized, and access content through the application.
Drive already supports uploading, organizing, searching, and previewing files, alongside sharing through links. Its Android description also lists automatic backups for photos, videos, and documents over Wi-Fi or mobile data. These existing functions provide the workflows targeted by the latest improvements.
The team’s announcement covers both mobile platforms and browser access, placing the update across the application’s three supported environments.
Encryption Begins Before Files Leave the Device
According to Nuvola’s Google Play description, files are encrypted on the user’s device before upload, with encryption keys held by the user. File and folder names are protected as part of the application’s privacy model.
Co-founder Raul De Benedittis described the underlying storage process in a June interview published by the Cardano Foundation. Encrypted files are divided into smaller fragments and distributed across Vola nodes. Downloads reconstruct the files from those distributed components.
This architecture separates the user’s readable content from the fragments held by storage providers. The October announcement concerns improvements to the application operating over that infrastructure.
Cardano Supports Nuvola’s Financial Layer
Nuvola develops decentralized physical infrastructure, or DePIN, for storage and computing resources. Drive provides the customer application, while Vola handles storage workloads.
De Benedittis described Cardano’s role as processing subscriptions and financial settlement. File distribution, downloading, and reconstruction run through Vola’s infrastructure, separating storage operations from the application’s financial activity.
Customers interact with the service through familiar file management functions. The announced update targets the speed and usability of transferring, synchronizing, sharing, and previewing their encrypted files across mobile and browser access.
