Midnight’s public network data is now available through Dune, while its Mainnet and Preprod environments operate on Node 1.0.0. The July State of the Network also includes a Token Terminal integration and regulatory submissions covering privacy-preserving compliance in the United States and United Kingdom.

The changes give researchers new ways to examine Midnight’s public activity, provide builders with a documented production stack and extend the network’s zero-knowledge architecture into regulatory discussions.

Dune and Token Terminal Add Midnight Analytics

Midnight is a privacy-enhancing Layer 1 and the first partner chain launched within the Cardano ecosystem. Its hybrid ledger allows developers to combine publicly verifiable blockchain state with shielded data, while zero-knowledge proofs enable specific facts to be confirmed without exposing the underlying information.

The Dune integration makes Midnight’s public network state available through queries, dashboards, visualizations and data exports. The available datasets cover transactions, blocks, fees, throughput, active addresses, smart contract deployments, application usage and validator activity.

Analysts can also examine $NIGHT transfers, holder distribution and movement across the network. NIGHT is Midnight’s public native token, used for governance, validator rewards and network incentives. Holding $NIGHT generates DUST, a shielded and non-transferable resource consumed when users execute transactions and smart contracts.

Dune exposes the public side of this resource model, including aggregate DUST generation, consumption and decay over time. Individual shielded transactions, their values and the associated private data are not added to the public dataset.

Contract deployments, applications built with Midnight’s Compact language, validator block production and reward distribution are also available for analysis. Users can work with the data through standard Dune tools or access it through Dune MCP without operating a separate Midnight indexer.

Midnight is also listed on Token Terminal, which standardizes network metrics such as transaction activity and block times. Dune provides the more flexible query environment, while Token Terminal places Midnight’s activity inside a comparable analytics framework used across other blockchain networks.

Midnight Mainnet and Preprod Move to Node 1.0.0

Midnight Mainnet and Preprod now run Node 1.0.0, aligning the production network with the primary environment used to test applications before deployment. Preview runs Node 1.0.1 and remains the environment for testing newer software versions.

According to Midnight’s official compatibility matrix, all three environments use Midnight Indexer 4.3.3 and Proof Server 8.1.0. The tested stack also includes Wallet SDK 1.2.0, Midnight.js 4.1.1 and on-chain runtime 3.0.0.

The matrix gives developers a defined set of supported versions across the node, indexer, wallet infrastructure, contract runtime and proof-generation services. Midnight applications can depend on several of these components simultaneously, making version compatibility relevant when moving code between local development, Preview, Preprod and Mainnet.

The July recap also adds a Wallet SDK training module to Midnight Academy and an Expert Partner Sprint running through July 29. These resources provide additional guidance for wallet connections, transaction signing and development with the network’s current tooling.

Selective Disclosure Enters US and UK Policy Consultations

Midnight Foundation submitted a formal response to the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and Office of Foreign Assets Control after the agencies proposed new anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance requirements under the GENIUS Act.

In its stablecoin policy submission, the Foundation described zero-knowledge proofs and selective disclosure as tools for regulatory verification without universal public access to users’ financial information.

One example involves a stablecoin smart contract requiring cryptographic proof that neither the sender nor the recipient appears on a sanctions list. The contract could reject a transfer before settlement when the required proof is missing or invalid, without publishing the participants’ identities, balances or complete transaction histories.

The submission supports policy rules based on required compliance outcomes instead of mandates for fully transparent blockchain architectures. Under that model, authorized parties could receive the information required for a specific regulatory purpose while unrelated financial and commercial data remains protected.

Midnight Foundation also responded to the Financial Conduct Authority and Bank of England consultation on tokenization in UK wholesale financial markets. The consultation covers tokenized securities, collateral, settlement and the use of distributed ledger technology within regulated financial infrastructure.

Following the July releases, Midnight’s public network activity can be examined through two analytics platforms, developers can build against a documented Mainnet stack, and regulators have received a concrete model for pre-settlement verification through zero-knowledge proofs. Shielded transaction data remains outside the public analytics layer.
