Cardano News - Charles Hoskinson Says Midnight Is on Track as Mainnet, Liquidity and Builder Activity Grow

Charles Hoskinson has published a new strategic update on Midnight, outlining what the next 90 to 180 days could look like for one of the most closely watched projects connected to the Cardano ecosystem. Instead of focusing on short term token price action, the update points to roadmap execution, liquidity, developer momentum and product design as the more important signals right now.

That matters because the video presents Midnight as a project moving through multiple delivery stages at the same time. Hoskinson points to a live mainnet phase, growing ambassador and builder activity, and a set of product tracks that aim to make privacy technology more practical and easier to use. The more important question now is whether this momentum turns into real usage and repeatable product execution for $NIGHT.

Midnight roadmap enters a new Cardano build phase

Hoskinson described Midnight as one of the most exciting projects being worked on this year and said the roadmap is still on schedule. He pointed to four major research and development tracks for the next iteration of Midnight, including the Midnight DeFi kernel, Midnight Passport, Minotaur and Nightstream, all of which he said are making meaningful and significant progress.

This is one of the clearest news signals in the update. Midnight is being developed across several layers at once, not only as a privacy focused network, but also through identity, financial tooling and infrastructure components that could shape how the broader product stack evolves from here. That gives the current roadmap update more weight than a standard market commentary video.

Midnight mainnet, liquidity and builder activity strengthen execution credibility

Hoskinson said the token launched in December and has already achieved near ubiquitous liquidity, with some jurisdictions and exchanges still expected to come online later. He also said Midnight has already reached a level of market depth that is unusual for a newly launched token.

More importantly, he said the federated guarded mainnet launched at the end of March as planned. He also acknowledged that there is still a backlog and ongoing work to get through, but the message was clear, the project has already moved into a more operational phase rather than remaining only in early rollout mode.

The builder layer is also growing. Hoskinson highlighted Night Force as Midnight’s ambassador program and said he wants it to scale toward roughly 1,000 participants. He also pointed to Builders Club, where cohorts of projects from sectors such as healthcare, real estate, NFT marketplaces and broader Web3 are already coming through. That matters because privacy infrastructure only becomes commercially relevant when developers and teams begin building actual products on top of it.

Midnight City and Passport push privacy UX toward mainstream usability

One of the more important parts of the update was Hoskinson’s focus on user experience. He said one of Midnight’s key goals is to let users create an account within around 60 seconds, use it on mobile, avoid managing 24 word seed phrases, and integrate with familiar services such as OneDrive and Google Drive where appropriate.

He also described Midnight City as an attempt to build a front page for the protocol through an agent based and participatory environment. In his explanation, subscriptions inside Midnight City would convert into demand for the network, while broader product experiments, including the DeFi kernel, are intended to test circular economies and more direct forms of consumptive demand for the token.

That makes this update more useful than a typical founder message focused only on sentiment. Hoskinson is describing a project that is trying to improve privacy, usability and demand design at the same time. If Midnight continues to hit the roadmap milestones he described, the next phase will be less about narrative and more about whether those product and ecosystem efforts can translate into sustained adoption.
