Cardano DijkstraNet Activates Protocol Version 12 Without Leios

Intersect confirms that DijkstraNet has completed its hard fork to Protocol Version 12, enabling further integration testing for Cardano's Dijkstra upgrade. Node 11.2 remains a pre-release, while Leios development continues separately.

Cardano News - Cardano DijkstraNet Activates Protocol Version 12 Without Leios

Cardano's DijkstraNet test network transitioned to Protocol Version 12 (PV12) on November 2 at 00:00 UTC, according to an update published by Intersect.

The hard fork establishes the next stage of Dijkstra integration testing without activating Linear Leios. Stake pool operators, application developers, and infrastructure providers can now evaluate compatibility with the updated protocol before its potential deployment on Cardano mainnet.

DijkstraNet Completes Protocol Version 12 Hard Fork

The transition follows DijkstraNet's October restart and moves the test network from the Conway era under protocol version 11 to the Dijkstra era under PV12.

The updated environment supports integration testing for Dijkstra-era ledger changes, including transaction-processing capabilities associated with the upgrade.

The broader Dijkstra development effort includes nested transactions, sub-transactions, and additional mechanisms for controlling transaction execution. Their availability and behavior must be evaluated against the relevant node implementation rather than assumed from the protocol version change alone.

The network upgrade also allows wallet providers, indexers, and decentralized application developers to examine compatibility with Dijkstra-era changes under active testnet conditions.

The hard fork applies exclusively to DijkstraNet. Cardano mainnet remains unaffected.

Node 11.2 Introduces Updated Configuration and API Capabilities

Cardano Node 11.2.0 is available as a pre-release supporting Dijkstra development and integration testing.

The release introduces a versioned configuration format, expanded gRPC interfaces, and additional functionality supporting the new ledger era.

While Node 11.2 maintains support for older flat-format configurations, files using the new format cannot be read by earlier node versions. The release also includes changes to node-to-client protocol compatibility that infrastructure providers must account for.

These updates affect operators managing node configurations and developers maintaining applications that communicate directly with Cardano infrastructure.

Node 11.2.0 is not recommended for production deployment on Cardano mainnet.

Leios Remains on MusashiNet as Integration Testing Continues

Linear Leios, Cardano's scaling protocol designed to increase transaction-processing capacity, was not included in the PV12 hard fork.

Its development continues separately on MusashiNet, allowing teams to test Leios functionality independently of the other Dijkstra changes.

Intersect's development plans identify Node 11.3 as the intended release combining Leios with the broader Dijkstra feature set. Any subsequent mainnet activation will require additional testing, release preparation, and the applicable on-chain governance approvals.

With PV12 now active on DijkstraNet, Intersect is encouraging stake pool operators and developers to test node compatibility, transaction processing, and application integrations.

The immediate focus is identifying compatibility issues in the test environment while Leios continues through its separate development process.
