Midnight News - Midnight Records Nearly 50,000 Transactions in One Day

Midnight processed 49,229 transactions on October 25, 2026, its highest daily total to date, according to figures published by MSB Intel and shared by Input Output Group. The report placed the network’s cumulative mainnet activity at 954,434 transactions.

Midnight Approaches One Million Transactions

The reported daily record came approximately seven months after Midnight’s mainnet launch in March 2026. Based on the cumulative figure in MSB Intel’s report, the network was 45,566 transactions short of its first million at the time of the snapshot.

Input Output Group shared the figures in a post highlighting the approaching milestone. The report did not specify how many of the transactions came from individual applications or particular types of activity.

Midnight and Zcash Daily Activity

MSB Intel also compared Midnight’s October 25 transaction count with Zcash, reporting 20,445 transactions on the privacy-focused blockchain that day. Based on those figures, Midnight processed approximately 2.4 times as many transactions during the period covered by the comparison.

Both networks use cryptography to protect information, but their designs support different functions. Zcash offers shielded transactions that can conceal details such as the sender, recipient, and amount. Midnight enables developers to build smart contracts that work with private data while allowing selected claims to be verified.

Developers Gain Direct Mainnet Access

The daily record followed Midnight’s opening of permissionless smart contract deployment on mainnet in early October. Developers can publish contracts directly to the production network without a mandatory security review on Preprod.

Midnight has also planned support for contract events and composability in a later network version. Composability would allow smart contracts to interact with one another.
