Cardano News - NIGHTGATE Announces Attestation Vaults on Midnight Mainnet

Maximilian Weber, a core developer at ODATANO, announced that NIGHTGATE has deployed its first attestation vault contracts on Midnight mainnet after nearly six months of development and testing.

According to Weber, the deployment includes versions supporting 16 and 32 data fields. NIGHTGATE’s own sponsor pool covered the deployment fees in DUST.

Document Records With Selective Disclosure

NIGHTGATE, part of ODATANO’s developer infrastructure, connects document records with verifiable claims. Its attestation contracts support anchoring documents through cryptographic hashes, proving conditions about individual fields, and granting or revoking disclosure permissions.

An attestation is a verifiable statement associated with data or a claim. Applications can use these statements to check specific information while keeping the underlying values private.

The two contract variants accommodate different document structures, providing 16 or 32 slots for fields associated with a shared cryptographic record.

How Midnight Supports Private Verification

NIGHTGATE’s documentation describes a process in which the document remains off-chain while its cryptographic hash is recorded on the blockchain. A later comparison can establish whether a document matches the anchored version.

Zero-knowledge proofs allow applications to verify specific conditions without exposing the values being checked. A recipient could confirm that a hidden numerical value meets a required threshold, for example. The documented functions also support equality checks and proofs that a value belongs to an approved set.

For business applications, this could allow a defined question to be answered without sharing the entire supporting document.

The proof establishes a relationship between the recorded data and the condition being tested. The accuracy of the original input still depends on its source and collection process. Disclosure controls govern access through the system, but revoking permission cannot withdraw information already received.

Public API Access Will Extend Integration Options

ODATANO develops NIGHTGATE as an integration layer between Midnight and business software, including applications built with SAP CAP. Its tools cover document anchoring, private proofs, transaction submission, and fee sponsorship.

Cardano News previously covered the related NightPass battery passport demonstration on Midnight Preprod. Weber’s latest announcement concerns the attestation infrastructure and its reported deployment on the production network.

The announcement does not identify commercial customers or provide usage figures. Weber named public API access as the next step, without specifying a release date or access terms.
