Is World Mobile Moving Away From Cardano as WMTX Future Shifts to Base?
World Mobile is moving Ethereum token recovery, exchange support and new liquidity toward Base following the recent bridge exploit. Cardano remains operational, but the company’s latest announcement places Base at the center of World Mobile Chain’s future infrastructure.

World Mobile has placed Base at the center of its recovery strategy following the unauthorized minting of WMTX on Ethereum, stating that “the future of WMTX is on Base.”
Cardano was not affected by the incident. Holders on Cardano do not need to take remediation action, and tokens already locked in staking contracts and liquidity pools continue to operate normally.
The recovery plan, however, concentrates several major functions on Base. The Ethereum version is being permanently deprecated, eligible holders will receive replacement tokens on Base, major exchange support is being aligned around the network, and World Mobile Chain itself settles there.
For a project that originally emerged from the Cardano ecosystem, that shift raises a direct question about Cardano’s future role.
World Mobile Moves Ethereum Recovery to Base
The latest announcement moves World Mobile from containing the exploit to rebuilding the affected token infrastructure.
The incident was linked to the SingularityNET bridge between Cardano and Ethereum, where a compromised signing key enabled unauthorized minting on Ethereum. Public onchain analysis identified approximately 53.8 million unauthorized tokens, while the Cardano version was not compromised.
World Mobile has now confirmed that the Ethereum version of WMTX will be permanently deprecated. Users have been told not to trade, transfer or transact with it.
Eligible Ethereum holders will be identified through a pre-exploit snapshot and blockchain analysis before receiving corresponding tokens on Base. Wallets or transactions linked to suspicious activity will be excluded from the recovery process.
Exchange support is following the same route. According to World Mobile, Coinbase and Kraken support the Base version, Bitvavo has moved from Ethereum to Base, and Binance Alpha uses the BNB Chain version.
Liquidity is also being strengthened on Base. World Mobile highlighted Hydrex as its largest onchain liquidity pool and introduced new single-sided ICHI incentives for users providing the token.
For bridging, Chainlink CCIP connectivity between Base and BNB Chain is expected to reopen first. Other routes remain closed while internal and independent investigations continue.
Cardano Remains Operational
Cardano occupies a different position in the recovery plan.
World Mobile grouped Cardano with Base and BNB Chain and said holders on those networks require no remediation because those versions were not affected by the unauthorized Ethereum minting.
Locked tokens in staking contracts and liquidity pools also continue to operate normally.
The company’s existing Locked Staking product supports both Cardano and Base, meaning Cardano users are not being required to migrate their positions as part of the current recovery process.
World Mobile has therefore announced no shutdown of the Cardano token, no end to Cardano staking and no forced migration to Base.
What has changed is the infrastructure surrounding the project.
World Mobile began as one of the better-known projects associated with Cardano before expanding its token across multiple networks. Cardano remains part of that multichain structure, but the project’s operational architecture has increasingly moved toward Base.
Base Is Now at the Center of World Mobile Chain
World Mobile Chain launched its public mainnet in August 2025 as a Layer 3 network using Arbitrum Orbit and settling on Base.
The latest recovery plan reinforces that structure.
World Mobile now explicitly says “the future of WMTX is on Base.” Affected Ethereum holders are being redirected there, Coinbase and Kraken support the Base version, new liquidity incentives are centered there, and Base is part of the first bridge route scheduled to reopen.
Cardano remains functional within the ecosystem today. Its token version was not affected by the exploit, existing staking positions continue to operate, and holders are not being asked to migrate.
But its role is now different from the period when World Mobile was primarily identified as a Cardano-native project.
Cardano currently remains a functioning home for the token and staking. Base, meanwhile, hosts World Mobile Chain settlement and is becoming the main destination for recovery, exchange support and liquidity. The next question is whether Cardano retains a meaningful role as that Base-centered architecture expands.
