Cardano News - Fahmi Syed: Midnight Helped Bring Dune, LayerZero and USDCx to Cardano

Fahmi Syed, president of the Midnight Foundation, said conversations involving Dune, LayerZero and USDCx originated or developed within the foundation before being brought into the Cardano ecosystem.

Speaking during episode 784 of The Breakdown with David Gokhshtein, Syed provided new details about Midnight’s contribution to Cardano’s infrastructure strategy. Dune, LayerZero and USDCx are confirmed components of the Critical Integrations program, although the organizations involved have not separately verified Syed’s account of how the discussions began.

Midnight’s Role in Cardano Integrations

Syed directly named the three integrations while discussing the relationship between Midnight and Cardano.

“Dune, LayerZero, conversation around USDCx, a lot of those permeated and originated from within the Midnight Foundation, which we then brought into the Cardano ecosystem.”

Midnight Foundation participated in the Cardano Pentad alongside Input Output, the Cardano Foundation, Intersect and EMURGO. The group developed the Critical Integrations program to address gaps in stablecoin infrastructure, institutional custody, cross-chain connectivity, oracle data and blockchain analytics.

USDCx launched on the Cardano mainnet on February 27, 2026, using Circle’s xReserve infrastructure. Dune was selected to make Cardano blockchain data available through an industry-wide analytics platform, while the LayerZero integration is intended to connect Cardano applications and assets with other networks.

Official updates present the integrations as coordinated Pentad initiatives. Syed’s comments provide a more specific account of Midnight Foundation’s involvement in initiating or advancing the commercial discussions behind them.

Monument Bank Brings Deposits to Midnight

Syed also discussed Midnight’s partnership with UK-regulated Monument Bank, which plans to represent up to £250 million in retail deposits on Midnight infrastructure. Each digital token will correspond one to one with pounds held by the bank for the customer.

The deposits are expected to continue earning interest, remain redeemable in British pounds and retain protection under the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Customers will not need to purchase or manage crypto assets because the blockchain infrastructure will operate behind Monument’s banking application.

The first phase covers tokenized deposits. Later phases are intended to introduce tokenized investment products and lending against assets held through the Monument application. Transaction information would remain accessible to the bank and its customers without being exposed on a public ledger.

The project reflects Syed’s description of Midnight as infrastructure that regulated institutions can use without transferring confidential financial activity onto a fully transparent blockchain.

Midnight Targets Infrastructure Users Do Not See

Syed said Midnight’s success would eventually be reflected in users discussing applications and financial products instead of the network operating underneath them. In his description, effective technology becomes invisible once it is integrated into products that do not require users to understand the underlying architecture.

The Midnight mainnet launched in March 2026 with a federated node operator model and phased application deployment. Its zero-knowledge infrastructure allows applications to verify transactions and required information without exposing complete underlying data publicly.

Midnight’s connection to Cardano also includes NIGHT, which exists as a Cardano native asset. Syed said its launch demonstrated that a Cardano native asset could reach global centralized and decentralized exchanges beyond markets focused exclusively on Cardano.

Midnight remains focused on developing its own network, but Syed said the foundation also intends to support Cardano’s growth and bring its partners into that process.

“We want to be able to help Cardano rise. For me, the real focus is Midnight and ensuring Midnight succeeds, and if we can take our friends and partners with us, that’s also a benefit for us.”

Syed’s account places Midnight’s contribution to Cardano in three operating areas: partner introductions, distribution of a Cardano native asset and regulated financial infrastructure designed to remain invisible to the customer.
