The platform has announced support for transfers through text and voice messages. Users can send funds to WhatsApp numbers without requiring recipients to install a separate wallet application.

ChatterPay announced on September 3 that users can send ADA, USDCx, $USDM and $USDA through WhatsApp. The release extends its existing messaging-based crypto wallet to Cardano, with the announcement accompanied by a video demonstrating an ADA transfer instruction.
ChatterPay Founders and the Draper Connection
ChatterPay was founded in 2024 at Ethereum Argentina’s Level Up Hackathon by Martín Pefaur, Tomás Di Mauro and Diego Baranowski.
Pefaur brings experience in law, business and blockchain entrepreneurship. Di Mauro is a full-stack developer focused on user experience, while Baranowski is a software architect with more than 25 years of experience in cloud systems and technical leadership.
Pefaur and Di Mauro represented ChatterPay in Genesis 2026, the program run by Draper University and the Cardano Foundation. According to the project’s updates, Baranowski remained in Buenos Aires managing infrastructure while the other founders attended activities in the San Francisco area.
The four-week residency combines mentorship, business development and investor presentations. It is connected to the $80 million Orion Fund managed by Draper Dragon, providing participating startups with access to the fund and strategic support. The Foundation’s announcement did not disclose a specific investment in ChatterPay.
How Cardano Transfers Work on WhatsApp
Users create a wallet by opening ChatterPay’s official WhatsApp link and sending the initial message. After depositing supported assets, they can request a transfer by specifying an amount and the recipient’s phone number.
ChatterPay interprets the instruction and presents the transaction details for confirmation. The company says recipients receive a notification through WhatsApp, and its platform description explains that a wallet can be created for them when funds arrive.
The interface therefore uses phone numbers to identify recipients rather than requiring users to exchange blockchain addresses manually. WhatsApp provides the messaging interface, while ChatterPay constructs and relays the blockchain transaction.
The company reports more than 10,000 wallets created in production and active users in 114 countries. These figures cover its broader platform and are not a measure of adoption of the new Cardano integration.
Transaction Protection and Cardano Fees
ChatterPay’s published terms describe an additional PIN protection option through WhatsApp Flows. The PIN is entered outside the chat thread and is not stored in the conversation history. Account access is linked to control of the registered phone number and associated WhatsApp account.
Users confirm the recipient, network, asset and amount before broadcast. The terms identify phone-number compromise and WhatsApp account takeover among the access risks, alongside the irreversibility of blockchain transactions.
As of September 4, ChatterPay’s fees page still displayed Cardano transfers and swaps as “Coming soon,” despite the launch announcement. It did not publish a Cardano-specific transfer fee.
The release announcement covers sending ADA and the three listed stablecoins through WhatsApp. Cardano swap availability, pricing and network-fee sponsorship were not specified in that announcement.
