Cardano News - Charles Hoskinson Plans Discord Channel for Cardano Community Discussions

Charles Hoskinson has proposed moving part of Cardano’s community discussion from X to Discord, describing the plan as a way to create better moderated channels for more structured conversations. The Cardano founder said he spoke with Phillip Pon, CEO of EMURGO, and that the two are working on a plan for a new Discord space for the Cardano community. Hoskinson also said he will continue broadcasting livestreams on X, but will take AMA questions only from the new Cardano Discord and existing Midnight Discord channels.

Hoskinson Outlines a Cardano Discord Plan

Hoskinson said the planned Discord would support what he described as a major migration of Cardano community activity away from X. In his post, he said the goal is to create positive and well moderated channels while moving away from public discussion patterns that have become increasingly difficult to manage.

The update does not indicate a full departure from X. Hoskinson said he would continue using X for livestream broadcasts because of the audience he has built there, but would change where audience questions are sourced for AMA sessions. Under the proposed model, X remains the public distribution channel, while Discord becomes the structured environment for questions, topic based discussion and community participation.

The mention of Phillip Pon gives the announcement an ecosystem coordination element. EMURGO is one of Cardano’s founding entities and focuses on commercial adoption, Web3 financial services, real world asset tokenization and blockchain infrastructure. Pon was appointed CEO of EMURGO Group in April 2025, with Ken Kodama moving to chairman after leading the company through Cardano’s original roadmap phase.

AMA Questions Move Toward Moderated Community Channels

The proposed setup separates public reach from moderated participation. X gives Hoskinson and Cardano related accounts broad visibility for livestreams, rapid updates and open public distribution. Discord gives the community a channel based structure, clearer moderation rules and a more controlled process for selecting questions.

That distinction matters because Cardano governance discussions increasingly involve treasury proposals, DRep activity, ecosystem funding, protocol development priorities and public accountability. In that environment, the platform where questions are asked can affect how discussions are organized, how repeated topics are handled and how community input reaches public AMA formats.

Midnight is also part of the proposed communication flow. Hoskinson said AMA questions would come from the new Cardano Discord and current Midnight Discords. Midnight is a privacy focused blockchain project connected to the broader Cardano and Input Output ecosystem, and its inclusion suggests that future community formats may combine Cardano and Midnight related discussion rather than keeping them fully separate.

Governance Communication Becomes Part of the Operating Layer

The Discord proposal comes during a period in which Cardano communication is increasingly connected to governance execution. Community debates around project funding, treasury priorities, ecosystem infrastructure and public accountability now sit closer to formal decision making than they did before the Voltaire era.

A moderated Discord environment could give Cardano a more organized setting for technical, governance and community discussions. It also creates practical questions about transparency if important exchanges move from public X feeds into channels that require membership, moderation and internal context. For governance related topics, those details affect how accessible the discussion remains for DReps, builders, voters and community members who are not active on Discord.

The next step is a clear operating structure for the proposed Cardano Discord. The details that matter include who manages the server, how moderation rules are applied, how AMA questions are selected and whether important discussion summaries are made available outside Discord. Until those details are published, Hoskinson’s post represents a proposed communication shift rather than a completed migration of the Cardano community.
