Cardano Unity SDK v1.0 Add Wallet, NFT and Native Token Tools for WebGL Games

The open-source package combine CIP-30 wallet connections, Cardano data access, WebGL templates and sample applications for NFTs and native tokens. Im client-side signing examples still meant for testing, no be for production use with valuable assets.

Cardano News - Cardano Unity SDK v1.0 Add Wallet, NFT and Native Token Tools for WebGL Games

Developer John Moreland don publish version 1.0.0 of the Cardano Game Development SDK for Unity, one free toolkit wey connect Unity WebGL games with Cardano.

Funded through Project Catalyst Fund 12, the SDK join C# scripts, browser wallet connectivity, reusable templates and sample applications together. The code dey under the MIT license and you fit download am as Unity package from GitHub.

SDK Package Cardano Access for Unity Developers

The SDK include integrations with Blockfrost and Koios to retrieve information about Cardano accounts, addresses, native assets and transactions. Because e support the two services, developers get two data access options inside the same toolkit.

For browser games, e add CIP-30 connection between Unity WebGL application and compatible Cardano wallets. Game fit request access to wallet and show im balance while user still get final say to approve any transaction.

Two WebGL templates provide starting points for different application layouts. CardanoBasic get the core structure wey you need to embed Unity application and connect wallet. CardanoResponsive add mobile-first interface wey adjust Unity content for different screen sizes.

Version 1.0.0 require Unity 2022.3 LTS or newer with WebGL Build Support. E still use Unity uGUI and TextMeshPro systems, Newtonsoft Json and one MeshJS bundle for im minting and token distribution functions.

Sample Applications Cover NFTs, Minting and Player Rewards

Three sample decentralized applications show how Cardano functions fit respond to events inside game.

The Gated Access example check whether connected wallet hold specified NFT or native token. Developers fit use the result to unlock restricted areas, digital content or other game features.

The Minting Tokens example fit create CIP-25 NFT or fungible Cardano native token after action inside application. Another Awarding Tokens example send existing assets from designated treasury wallet go give player and e include optional transaction fee sponsorship.

The toolkit still provide five demonstration scenes, reusable prefabs and editor tools to check project settings, configure wallets and build demo scenes. These components allow developers to study working examples before dem adapt am to their own projects.

Moreland no report production deployments, adoption figures or transaction volumes for the SDK.

Client-Side Signing Limit Production Use

The documentation include security warning for the minting and token-awarding examples. The two use game wallet wey dem package inside the WebGL build, and files wey dem deliver to user browser no fit hide private signing credentials securely.

Developers dey advised make dem use dedicated wallet wey hold only small amounts, preferably for Cardano Preprod. Applications wey handle assets with real value suppose move transaction signing go developer-controlled server. Server relay dey planned for future version but e no dey inside v1.0.0.

The SDK originate from Project Catalyst proposal wey allocate 84,000 ADA. Catalyst project page still show the broader initiative as in progress, with two of five milestones completed. The sample applications, Unity Asset Store publication and final closeout never mark as completed, so the GitHub version no represent completion of every Catalyst milestone.

The SDK submit to the Unity Asset Store for review on October 27. Until the listing dey available, the official distribution remain the v1.0.0 package for GitHub, and applications wey use real funds must keep transaction signing outside the WebGL client.
