Cardano Joins Open Wallet Standard for AI Agents
The WingRiders integration brings Cardano wallets into a shared developer toolkit, with configurable access rules checked before agents can sign transactions.

Cardano is now supported in Open Wallet Standard, giving developers a common interface for applications and AI agents that manage wallets across multiple blockchains. Input Output Group announced the integration on October 8, following its inclusion in the v1.4.3 release published on September 29.
WingRiders Delivers Cardano Integration
WingRiders, the team behind a decentralized exchange on Cardano, built the integration with coordination and technical review from IOG and the Midnight Foundation. Open Wallet Standard maintainers reviewed the code through several rounds before merging it into the project.
The accepted contribution covers Cardano addresses, transaction and message signing, balance lookups, and transaction data used in access checks. Developers can now use these functions through the same wallet interface that supports Ethereum, Solana, and Bitcoin.
Configurable Wallet Access for AI Agents
Open Wallet Standard, or OWS, is open-source software for managing wallets locally through a software development kit or command-line tool. Private keys remain encrypted at rest, and the signing interface returns signatures without exposing the raw keys.
Developers can give each agent a separate API key with its own access policies. OWS checks every attached policy before signing. Built-in controls restrict which blockchain networks an agent can use and set an expiration date for its access.
Custom rules can add checks such as spending limits or approved recipients. These controls run in the local signing software, with their scope determined by the application’s configuration.
Cardano Payments and Staking Support
The integration handles Cardano’s separate payment and staking keys. It signs transactions with the payment key and can add a staking signature when required, including for delegation, provided that key is available.
Balance lookups use Koios, a community-run Cardano API. Applications can therefore check wallet holdings and request signatures within OWS.
For developers already using OWS, Cardano wallet operations are now available within their existing toolkit, alongside the local key storage and individually configured agent access used across supported networks.
