Cardano Foundation and the Brazilian Olympic Committee have signed an Acordo de Cooperação Técnica, a technical cooperation agreement that opens a three-year roadmap for the use of blockchain, artificial intelligence and IoT technology in Brazilian sports. The partnership was announced on June 2, 2026 through an official Cardano Foundation X thread, while COB published a full official announcement on its website.
The first executive workshop was held in late May, and the first institutional pilot projects are expected in the coming months. The published roadmap includes four areas of application: identity and certification, fan engagement, equipment tracking and governance and transparency.
Cardano and COB Define a Sports Blockchain Roadmap
The three-year roadmap covers the use of public blockchain, AI and IoT in sports administration processes. In identity and certification, the plan includes secure digital identities for athletes and coaches, along with certifications that can be globally verified.
The fan engagement part of the roadmap refers to new digital forms of interaction between sports organizations, fans and data. Equipment tracking includes the use of IoT technology and digital records to monitor sports equipment, with the goal of improving information security and operational efficiency.
The governance and transparency part of the cooperation focuses on permanent, auditable and verifiable records connected to sports administration and funding programs. COB and Cardano Foundation said the first institutional pilots will be developed in the coming months.
COB Links Blockchain With Trust and Sports Administration
COB General Director Emanuel Rego described the agreement as a step toward the future of sports management in Brazil. In COB’s official announcement, he said one of the organization’s commitments is to lead by example and use innovation to strengthen institutional integrity and trust among athletes, confederations and society.
Marcelo Santos, COB’s technology manager, said the partnership with Cardano Foundation positions COB within the digital transformation of sports. According to his statement, the cooperation connects blockchain, artificial intelligence and new technology architectures with the development of the Brazilian sports ecosystem.
From Cardano Foundation’s side, Rafael Fraga, LATAM Business Development Lead, said the Foundation wants to build this transformation alongside COB, Brazilian sport and Brazil. The announcements do not name the person who physically signed the agreement on behalf of Cardano Foundation.
Brazil Expands the Institutional Framework for Cardano Adoption
The partnership with the Brazilian Olympic Committee follows previous Cardano Foundation activity in Brazil. Those initiatives include cooperation with SERPRO, Brazil’s state-owned IT company, and work with the University of Brasília on the Cardano Project Development Lab in Latin America.
The COB partnership adds the sports sector to that regional framework. The published materials mention athletes, coaches, confederations and fans as groups connected to the roadmap, although specific sports, federations or COB departments have not yet been named.
The cooperation now moves into preparation for the first institutional pilots. COB and Cardano Foundation have confirmed the framework, technologies and four areas of application, while the next updates are expected to show which sports processes will first use digital identities, certification records, IoT equipment tracking or blockchain records for governance.
