EMURGO’s Phillip Pon says the organization will change its position and vote “Yes” on the IOR proposal after discussions with Charles Hoskinson and concerns over how recent ADA price declines may affect budgeting and delivery. Cardano News - BREAKING CARDANO NEWS: EMURGO Shifts to “Yes” on IOR Proposal as Phillip Pon Calls for Stronger Cardano Leadership

Cardano Faces a Defining Governance Moment

Phillip Pon of EMURGO has called on all DReps to vote “Yes” on the IOR proposal, while urging those who previously voted “No” or “Abstain” to reconsider. According to Pon, the recent decline in ADA’s price has changed the importance of the proposal, because funding decisions now carry even greater weight for infrastructure, development, and the delivery of IO-related initiatives.

He warned that Cardano is facing an existential moment, where today’s decisions could shape the future of the ecosystem for years to come.

EMURGO Pushes for Structured Leadership

Pon emphasized that Cardano needs more structured leadership while still keeping the community involved in a constructive way. He proposed an executive function led by Charles Hoskinson, Frederik Gregaard, Phillip Pon, and Jack Briggs from Intersect. In his view, Cardano’s future requires clearer coordination between its major institutions, including Input Output, EMURGO, the Cardano Foundation, and Intersect, especially when it comes to infrastructure, core development, and ecosystem-wide priorities.

Infrastructure, Commercial Growth, and Serious Branding Take Priority

Pon also argued that Cardano must continue funding key infrastructure and support the teams best positioned to deliver it, while also making targeted commercial investments. He acknowledged that many early-stage investments will fail, but said Cardano must still try to build a thriving ecosystem prepared for a multi-chain future. On marketing and branding, Pon made it clear that EMURGO supports serious efforts led by serious people, not casual events or surface-level promotion, as Web3 competes for attention in the age of AI.
