Cardano News - Amaru Beta Add Stake Pool Tools and Validation Fixes for Cardano

PRAGMA don release new beta version of Amaru on October 29, wey add tools for stake pool operators and changes for transaction validation. Amaru na alternative Cardano node implementation wey dem write for Rust.

Version 10.11.20261029 land as the project dey work towards producing blocks for Cardano mainnet. Amaru fit already operate as relay, and earlier beta don introduce block forging for test networks.

New Commands for Cardano Stake Pool Operators

The release add three commands to inspect information wey stake pool operations dey use. One dey display details from pool operational certificate, including pool ID, sequence number and key-evolving signature period.

Another command dey check the current KES period and how much time remain before dem need rotate the keys. KES keys dey used to sign blocks and dem must renew am periodically. Third command dey derive pool ID from im cold verification key.

The update still change the command wey dem dey use generate KES keys. Operators fit now use amaru pool kes create instead of the previous command.

Transaction Validation and Plutus Changes

The beta don strengthen ledger checks for transactions wey get invalid execution budgets, unauthorized collateral inputs or missing witnesses. E still address operations wey involve unregistered stake credentials and delegated representatives.

Separate fix correct how Amaru dey account for Treasury donations from transactions wey their Plutus scripts fail validation. The release notes still list fixes for block and transaction decoding, plus improvements to how im Plutus evaluator take match compatibility with the Cardano reference implementation.

For Plutus execution, release builds now dey use the Malachite arithmetic library. According to the release notes, the change introduce dependency wey LGPL license cover.

Amaru’s Path to Mainnet Block Production

Earlier Amaru beta wey dem release on October 22 add ability to forge blocks for test networks when dem supply the required KES and VRF keys plus operational certificate. Mainnet block forging bin dey disabled for that release.

Amaru roadmap list the Minimum Viable Block Producer milestone for November 2026, followed by fuller block producer phase for December. Separate Dijkstra and Leios milestone dey listed for January 2027.

The Amaru team still dey organize node diversity workshop for London on November 12 and 13. The agenda include discussion about implementation costs and community needs for future Cardano upgrades.
