WayUp Plans CIP-113 Support for Real-World Assets on Cardano

Anvil Development Agency plans to expand WayUp beyond NFT trading through programmable tokens, USDCx integration and a simpler onboarding model. Most of the new functionality remains on the platform’s roadmap rather than in its current release.

Cardano News - WayUp Plans CIP-113 Support for Real-World Assets on Cardano

Anvil Development Agency has outlined a roadmap to expand WayUp into a broader marketplace for digital and real-world assets on Cardano. During the 74th Cardano Developers Office Hours, CEO Zack Soesbee and COO Patrick Bernard connected the platform’s next phase with CIP-113, stablecoin infrastructure and wallet access designed for users without previous blockchain experience.

WayUp Sets Out a Broader Digital Asset Roadmap

WayUp is a live Cardano marketplace where users can list, buy and sell NFTs and other native assets. Its role expanded following the closure of JPG Store, with WayUp continuing to support its smart contracts and existing royalty records.

The Cardano.org application directory recorded 4,643 WayUp on-chain transactions during the 30-day period ending August 17. Anvil also presented internal data covering active listings, platform traffic and usage of the Anvil API, which powers WayUp and other Cardano applications.

Anvil now plans to reposition WayUp as a digital asset marketplace capable of supporting tokenized physical goods, regulated assets and products that require additional trading controls. Soesbee said the team aims to complete the wider platform transition by the end of 2026.

The company has submitted a proposal through the Catalyst 2026 Pilot to add CIP-113 functionality. According to Soesbee, the integration will remain on the WayUp roadmap even if the proposal does not receive funding, although Anvil has not announced a public launch date.

CIP-113 Adds Transfer Rules to Cardano Native Assets

CIP-113 defines a framework for programmable tokens on Cardano. These assets retain Cardano’s native token infrastructure while adding validation logic to transfers, issuance and burning.

Issuers can apply separate rules covering permitted transfers, address verification, time restrictions and regulatory controls. The current CIP-113 reference implementation includes optional functions for denylists, asset freezing and seizure under predefined conditions.

These controls are designed for stablecoins, tokenized securities and other real-world assets whose issuers must enforce ownership and transfer requirements. Soesbee said Cardano RWA providers are frequently developing separate marketplaces for their products, while WayUp could provide a shared venue for listing and trading programmable assets.

CIP-113 has not yet reached its final form. The proposal is in the CIP editors’ Last Check stage, while the security audit of its reference implementation remains in progress. The current code has undergone limited testing on Cardano Preview, and wider adoption will require integration work across wallets, indexers, decentralized exchanges and other applications.

USDCx and Hodei Target Simpler Marketplace Access

Anvil identified USDCx integration as a priority for WayUp and the Anvil API during the remainder of 2026. Stablecoin support could provide buyers and issuers with a dollar-denominated payment and settlement route across Anvil’s applications.

The roadmap also includes cross-chain functionality, although Anvil has not disclosed which networks will be supported or provided an implementation schedule. The company presented interoperability as a distribution extension for Cardano-based products, with Cardano remaining the backend infrastructure.

Access to Anvil applications is also expected to become easier through Hodei Wallet, a mobile wallet funded through Catalyst Fund 14. Users can create and pair a wallet without completing a conventional seed phrase setup, while biometric authentication is used to approve transactions.

Anvil is also developing login models based on passkeys or standard user accounts, with a wallet created in the background. The company demonstrated the same approach through TradeUp, an early concept for authenticating and trading physical collectibles such as cards and watches. TradeUp remains in the concept and investment stage.

The announced roadmap does not change WayUp’s current functionality. Implementing CIP-113, stablecoin settlement and account-based access would move the platform from NFT resale toward shared distribution infrastructure where issuers can list programmable assets and users can reach them without a conventional Cardano wallet onboarding process.
