T. Rowe Price has disclosed a live Cardano position inside its Active Crypto ETF, an actively managed spot product listed on NYSE Arca. The fund’s official holdings dated August 20 list 416,620.4 Cardano tokens with a market value of $81,176.82.
The position represented 0.43% of the portfolio, while the fund reported total net assets of approximately $18.8 million. Official documents do not disclose the precise date on which T. Rowe Price acquired the position.
TKNZ Discloses Its Cardano Position
T. Rowe Price launched the Active Crypto ETF on July 16 as what the company described as the market’s first actively managed multi-token spot exchange-traded product. The fund trades on NYSE Arca and gives investors exposure to several crypto assets through a traditional brokerage account.
The official launch announcement identified examples from the fund’s eligible investment universe, including bitcoin, ether, BNB, XRP, Solana and Hyperliquid. It did not provide a complete launch-day holdings schedule with portfolio weights, token quantities or market values.
The August 20 holdings disclosure is therefore the first official T. Rowe Price source located that confirms a non-zero Cardano position. It establishes that Cardano was held by that date, but does not identify when the purchase was executed.
The allocation remains small compared with the fund’s leading positions. Its significance lies in the portfolio decision itself: Cardano has moved beyond investment eligibility and into a disclosed position inside an actively managed product.
Active Selection Separates Eligibility From Ownership
Cardano had been included in the fund’s eligible investment universe before trading began. SEC registration documents listed it among the crypto assets the product was permitted to hold, subject to the eligibility rules described in its prospectus.
Eligibility did not require the fund to purchase Cardano. Under normal conditions, the product is expected to hold between five and fifteen crypto assets and can adjust those positions through an active investment strategy.
The prospectus describes a selection process combining fundamental analysis, valuation, market momentum and risk management. Portfolio managers may also consider the underlying network technology, token economics and the development of the ecosystem connected to each asset.
A SEC prospectus supplement filed on July 14 placed Cardano at 2.79% of the fund’s FTSE Crypto U.S. Listed Index benchmark as of July 9. The actual August 20 portfolio weight was substantially lower because the product uses the index to measure performance rather than replicate its composition.
T. Rowe Price manages approximately $1.9 trillion across its wider investment business. That figure describes the scale of the asset manager, while the Cardano exposure belongs specifically to the $18.8 million crypto product.
An NYSE-Listed Route to Cardano Exposure
Investors in the T. Rowe Price product can gain proportional exposure to Cardano without directly managing a wallet, private keys or an account on a crypto trading platform. The underlying assets are held through a crypto custodian, while shares in the product trade during regular exchange hours.
Although it carries the Active Crypto ETF name, the product is not an investment company registered under the U.S. Investment Company Act of 1940. T. Rowe Price describes it as a spot exchange-traded product and states that it is not subject to all requirements applying to investment companies registered under that law.
The disclosed position is too small to represent a major capital inflow into Cardano. It nevertheless creates a measurable route to Cardano exposure through a product managed by one of the largest traditional investment firms in the United States.
As of August 20, that exposure consisted of 416,620.4 Cardano tokens worth $81,176.82. Those figures define the current scale of the allocation while confirming Cardano’s presence inside T. Rowe Price’s actively managed crypto portfolio.
