Cardano News - STUFF Opens Video Self-Publishing to Filmmakers

Stuff.io has opened its Creator Portal to video submissions, expanding the publishing tools available within the Book.io ecosystem, which includes digital book releases on Cardano. Announced during the September 3 episode of Wen Newsletter, the update moves film submissions from a process requiring extensive coordination with the team into a self-service workflow.

STUFF Adds Films to Its Publishing Portal

Stuff.io provides publishing and distribution for digital music and video, while its sister platform Book.io handles ebooks and audiobooks. The new option extends the existing music submission portal to filmmakers and other video creators.

According to the presentation, creators can submit feature films, TV shows, music videos and shorter productions in MP4 format. The workflow collects the content, production details and artwork, alongside confirmation that the creator holds the necessary rights or is submitting public-domain material.

An integrated Cover Composer helps prepare artwork to the platform’s specifications, reducing submission issues caused by incorrect image dimensions.

Publishing Promotion Covers Up to 5,000 Copies

The team said publishing fees are temporarily waived for up to 5,000 copies when creators apply a promotional code at checkout. No closing date for the offer was announced during the broadcast.

Optional redemption codes remain separately chargeable. The promotion therefore removes the stated publishing fees without covering every distribution option available through the portal.

Redemption Codes Support Film Distribution at Events

Filmmakers can choose to distribute copies through redemption codes, either alongside a marketplace release or without a public listing. These codes can be printed on cards or other materials for sale or giveaway at screenings, conferences and conventions.

Recipients enter the code on the redemption website and follow an account setup process using an email address. The team described a filmmaker preparing to take codes to an upcoming TED Talk, where attendees would be able to purchase access to the film through physical cards.
