NuNet Opens NTX Balance Review Ahead of Planned Token Hard Fork

NTX holders on Cardano, Ethereum, Base, and BNB Chain can now verify balances recorded before September's security exploit. NuNet has outlined an initial review period ending November 3, while the recovery claim process remains pending.

Cardano News - NuNet Opens NTX Balance Review Ahead of Planned Token Hard Fork

NuNet has opened a snapshot review portal for NTX holders affected by the September 19, 2026 security incident. Announced on October 21, the service allows users to check historical token balances and report discrepancies before a planned token restoration. The review portal is operational, but no claim functionality is currently available.

Cardano and Three Other Networks Included in NTX Snapshot

The snapshot records NTX holdings as of September 19, 2026, at 19:34:11 UTC, immediately before the first unauthorized token transfer.

The records cover Ethereum, Cardano, Base, and BNB Chain. Cardano's snapshot corresponds to block 13,962,205, with separate reference blocks established for the other networks.

Users can enter a public EVM or Cardano address to inspect their recorded holdings. The lookup is read-only and does not require wallet connections, transaction signatures, or token transfers.

The portal distinguishes directly held balances from positions attributed through DeFi protocols. It also identifies unresolved custodial holdings requiring review and locked or otherwise ineligible balances.

These classifications matter because appearing in the snapshot does not automatically guarantee recovery eligibility. Direct ownership and reconciled protocol positions form the basis of the allocation process, while unresolved custody requires further assessment.

Planned NTX Hard Fork Follows 408.5 Million Token Exploit

The recovery initiative follows the unauthorized minting of 408,532,878 NTX on Ethereum on September 19.

The amount represented approximately 40.85% of NuNet's stated maximum supply of one billion tokens, creating a major disruption to the token's supply and market liquidity.

The incident was linked to compromised credentials within infrastructure associated with SingularityNET. The broader attack also involved unauthorized activity affecting FET and other connected assets.

NuNet reported that the NTX contract itself operated according to its programmed rules. The security failure involved control over token issuance rather than a vulnerability in Cardano's blockchain or its native NTX minting policy.

The proposed recovery involves a hard fork of the NTX token arrangement intended to restore eligible holdings to their pre-incident balances.

This distinction is important for Cardano users: the planned restoration concerns NTX ownership and token accounting across supported networks. It does not require a hard fork of the Cardano blockchain.

November 3 Review Window Comes Before NTX Claims

NuNet's October 21 recovery instructions identify November 3, 2026, as the end of the initial balance review period.

Holders who discover missing addresses or incorrect balances can contact SingularityNET support at support@singularitynet.io. Reports may also be submitted after the initial review period.

The position of tokens held on centralized exchanges requires additional clarification. Because exchange-managed assets may be recorded under custodial addresses, individual customer balances cannot necessarily be established through a personal wallet lookup.

NuNet intends to open a separate claim portal once the review phase is complete. Its launch date has not been announced, and the project's recovery guidance indicates that claims will not have a closing deadline.

Users should rely exclusively on official project announcements and avoid unsolicited recovery links or requests for private keys.

For now, the available process is limited to checking the September 19 snapshot and reporting discrepancies. The separate claim portal must open before eligible NTX holders can begin recovering their recorded balances.
