Midnight News - Nightmode and Abyss Dey Build Private DeFi With Midnight

SIG Network and Summit Labs present tools and plans wey go shield the connection between users’ wallets and their trading activity for Ethereum and Hyperliquid. Their presentation for Midnight Cafe during TOKEN2049 for Singapore cover token swaps, trading accounts and collateral management.

Nightmode Connects Midnight With Ethereum DeFi

SIG Network dey develop Nightmode with Midnight, one programmable privacy blockchain inside the wider Cardano ecosystem. Its Ethereum integration dey available for Stagenet, and dem plan mainnet deployment alongside Midnight’s ledger v9 upgrade.

SIG Network CEO David Miller-Durand mention Uniswap and Aave as examples. Developers fit add privacy to established services without building new exchange, lending market or liquidity base.

Under the model wey dem describe, one Midnight smart contract dey determine permitted actions, while SIG’s network dey sign transactions from one Ethereum account. Assets go still remain for Ethereum, while user claims and sensitive records go dey maintained for Midnight. To produce signature go require cooperation among multiple signers.

Applications include sending ETH, swapping tokens for Uniswap and supplying USDC to Aave. Ethereum transactions still dey reveal amounts and execution times. The private part go protect how funds take dey allocated internally and the user information behind those activities.

Abyss Dey Develop Private Access to Hyperliquid

Summit Labs dey develop Abyss to bring trading positions and collateral across DeFi protocols into one shared system. The team describe am as onchain prime brokerage, wey aim to let users manage positions across markets from one account.

The team illustrate the problem with one trader wey hold funds for one lending protocol but need to add margin to one Hyperliquid position. That one fit require withdrawing or borrowing funds, converting assets and transferring them go another platform. Abyss wan connect those steps.

The first proposed privacy phase go create separate Hyperliquid subaccount for each Abyss user, controlled through Midnight. The goal na to protect the link between the original wallet and the trading account. Orders and trading activity go still remain public for Hyperliquid.

Later phase go combine multiple users’ activity inside one shared account, so e go hard to associate individual positions with particular owner.

For the presentation, the team report say Abyss’s request-for-quote token swap system, or RFQ, dey run for Midnight’s Stagenet. As dem work with SIG Network, dem don also develop private swaps wey connect to Ethereum’s Sepolia test network. The broader position management platform never launch publicly.

Processing speed still be development issue. The team report say Stagenet transactions dey take more than 60 seconds, including proof generation and execution. Dem dey consider application-specific chain or additional layer wey go settle to Midnight.

SIG Dey Plan Private Tron Payments

Miller-Durand still outline plans to extend Midnight’s privacy reach to Tron payments. E illustrate the need with one taxi ride for Mombasa: passenger wan pay for the journey without giving the driver address wey fit expose the rest of their wallet activity and holdings.

Payment applications fit set rules for accepting funds, use transaction-screening tools and determine which information users go disclose to authorized participants. SIG’s roadmap dey target December 2026 for the Tron extension.
