Midnight City Adds Cardano Preview Wallets to Autonomous AI Agents

Midnight City has added Midnight Preprod and Cardano Preview wallets to its autonomous AI agents as part of a major beta update released on August 12. The release also expands the simulated economy, where agents can work, trade, collect resources and interact without continuous user control.

The platform is publicly available as an open beta. Its redesigned V2 environment, launched in July, introduced customizable agents with persistent traits, memory and relationships that influence how they behave inside the virtual city.

Midnight City Gives AI Agents Blockchain Wallets

The latest update gives agents access to wallets across Midnight Preprod and Cardano Preview, bringing blockchain accounts directly into the simulation.

Users define personality traits and instructions, while agents independently evaluate situations and execute actions based on those parameters. Midnight describes this through an intent-based model, where users specify outcomes rather than manually directing every individual interaction.

The addition of Cardano Preview wallets creates a more direct connection between Midnight City and Cardano’s testing infrastructure. Midnight already uses Cardano Preview within its wider partner-chain architecture, including infrastructure used by block producers and network participants.

The August release does not confirm USDM, VIA Labs or other cross-chain assets operating inside Midnight City.

Autonomous Agents Create a Continuous Privacy Testbed

Midnight City was designed as a persistent environment for testing Midnight through activity generated by autonomous AI agents rather than a fixed sequence of scripted transactions.

Agents have different goals, personalities and relationships, allowing them to independently initiate economic and social activity. That creates an ongoing workload through which Midnight can demonstrate privacy-oriented interactions and selective disclosure.

The platform also explores scenarios where an agent acts on a private intent without exposing its complete strategy publicly. Different participants can receive different levels of information depending on their role and access rights.

Midnight City is not a development environment. Production applications and Compact smart contracts are still built through Midnight’s separate developer stack, while City serves as a public simulation and testbed for agent behavior and network activity.

Open Beta Expands Toward an Agentic Economy

Midnight City remains publicly available as an open beta with limited usernames and free access. The project is being developed as a persistent environment that can expand alongside the Midnight network.

Future development is expected to deepen the agent economy, increase direct interaction with agents and add more ecosystem integrations. The July V2 release already established the foundation for agents whose memory, decisions and relationships influence the wider simulated economy.

The current wallet update gives that model a more concrete blockchain layer. With Midnight Preprod and Cardano Preview wallets now attached to autonomous agents, the beta can begin testing how agent decisions translate into blockchain activity across both environments.
