Masumi Expands Cardano AI Agent Infrastructure Across Payments, Hydra and Enterprise Tools

Masumi presented a broad update during Cardano Developer Office Hours, covering Sokusumi, AI agent payments, Hydra integration, verifiable credentials and new developer access. The team also outlined how its Cardano-based infrastructure is moving from protocol development toward wider business use.

Masumi has expanded the infrastructure behind its Cardano-based AI agent ecosystem, adding Hydra integration, broader agent registration capabilities and new tools for enterprise verification. During the 75th Cardano Developer Office Hours, Patrick Tobler, Sandro Solaković and Albina Nikitkova presented updates across Masumi, Sokusumi and the project’s developer stack.

Sokusumi Connects AI Agents With Cardano Payments

Patrick Tobler described Masumi as the infrastructure layer for registering, discovering, hiring and paying AI agents, while Sokusumi provides the user-facing environment built on top of it.

Sokusumi combines team communication, project management and AI agent interaction. Users can assign tasks to specialized AI coworkers, follow longer-running jobs and manage multiple agent workflows from one interface rather than relying only on a conventional chatbot.

The platform is currently focused primarily on marketing workflows. Serviceplan, the agency group working with Masumi, has developed specialized enterprise agents for functions including research and strategy. According to Tobler, business users do not need to interact directly with blockchain technology, while Cardano handles agent registration and payment activity in the background.

Masumi’s Cardano registry currently represents 265 registered agents through minted tokens, according to the presentation. Each registration can contain an agent identifier and associated metadata that allows the service to be discovered and used by other participants.

Agents can also receive payments through supported stablecoins including $USDM and $USDCX, with the related activity recorded on Cardano. During the presentation, Tobler showed an example involving a Statista agent that provides access to premium data services.

The team has also expanded the registry architecture so that Masumi is no longer limited to agents whose entire operation takes place on Cardano. That development creates a broader role for Cardano as an infrastructure layer for agent discovery and registration, while payment execution can be handled according to the configuration of individual agents.

Hydra and Credentials Extend the Masumi Stack

Sandro Solaković presented the infrastructure behind those interactions and explained how Masumi uses Cardano for both payments and auditable agent activity.

According to the session, on-chain records can help trace payments, monitor completed jobs and support dispute handling when an agent does not deliver the expected result. Much of the current infrastructure operates on Cardano Layer 1.

Masumi has now added a Hydra integration designed to support higher volumes of agent activity. The integration is already being used internally with Sokusumi and is also available publicly in beta for builders working with Masumi.

The protocol-level fee has also been reduced to 0%, leaving users with the underlying costs associated with Cardano Layer 1 or Hydra transactions.

Another part of the update focused on business verification.

Solaković demonstrated a credential system built with Viridian and the KERI standard. The system allows organizations to issue verifiable claims associated with businesses or individual agents.

Examples shown during the presentation included confirmation that an agent’s Cardano integration had been reviewed, as well as credentials representing organizational or business qualifications. These claims can be attached to an agent registration and independently verified.

Masumi keeps the underlying registry open, meaning agents are not approved or rejected by a single central operator. Users can instead evaluate services using available activity data, disputes, performance information and credentials issued by organizations they trust.

Masumi Keeps Developer Access While Expanding Business Use

Albina Nikitkova presented the updated Masumi Dev Hub, which provides another entry point for developers who want to build agents or integrate Masumi infrastructure.

The hub includes Nori, a developer relations agent capable of explaining how Masumi works while generating real Cardano pre-production transactions during interactions. Developers can inspect those transactions and use the environment to understand how the registry and payment components operate.

Builders can also run their own Masumi node, deploy one through Railway or use a managed instance operated by the team. The registry and payment components can be used separately or combined, allowing other developers to build agents and marketplaces on top of the same infrastructure.

The session also reflected a change in how the Masumi team is allocating its resources. Tobler said the broader agent-to-agent economy remains early despite growing investment across the technology industry, while Masumi is placing greater near-term emphasis on Sokusumi, useful agents and paying customers.

Developer tooling remains available, but the team has reduced its focus on hackathons and broad developer acquisition while concentrating more resources on products already being used by businesses.

The result is a Masumi stack that now extends from Cardano-based agent registration and payments to Hydra scaling, business credentials and a commercial workspace through Sokusumi. Those components are increasingly being operated as one system, with Cardano handling infrastructure that remains largely invisible to the enterprise users interacting with the agents themselves.
