HODL Harmony: From Piano to Midnight City Radio

HODL Harmony outlined the next stage of his radio project during an appearance on Cardano Over Coffee, including paid offline access to playlists and a potential sales model for other musicians. The plans build on a free web service already integrated into Midnight City, a persistent virtual world populated by AI agents.

Seven Channels Inside and Beyond Midnight City

At the time of the interview, HODL Harmony Radio offered seven channels spanning electronic music, reggae, hip-hop, R&B and classical music. The catalog combines AI-generated tracks with his own compositions and curated selections.

Its interface resembles an analog radio, with a station dial, artwork and track information. Listeners choose a channel and join its ongoing broadcast rather than selecting individual songs.

In a September 9 post on X, HODL Harmony said he built the service specifically for Midnight City and showed the player inside a virtual room. The same radio is also available through its own website.

One channel relays Midnight Radio, a separate community project featuring podcasts and original music. That relay adds other contributors’ programming to the platform’s own stations.

A Musician’s Approach to AI and Cardano

HODL Harmony studied composition at Florida State University and restores and tunes pianos alongside his work as a musician. He described AI as the tool that enabled him to expand into software development.

His music workflow begins with detailed prompts covering instrumentation, atmosphere and production choices. He listens to every generated track before adding it to a playlist, drawing on his musical training to assess the results and edit audio when needed.

The projects grew from practical needs. He wanted background music for work and livestreams, while an existing Cardano visualization tool kept crashing his broadcasts. Using AI, he built a replacement that displays blocks and transactions, giving viewers a live view of network activity alongside the music.

Offline Listening and Creator Revenue Plans

The planned app would retain the radio channels and let listeners pay to save selected playlists for offline use. HODL Harmony described an approach similar to streaming apps, with saved music accessed within the application.

For contributing musicians, he is considering an 80/20 revenue split: artists would receive 80% of sales of their content, with 20% retained by the platform. Pricing and final terms have not been established. He also discussed adding talk shows, crypto news and podcasts.

No app release date was announced. He plans monthly playlist updates and intends to invite external users to test the app for free after completing his own checks.
