EMURGO Fix Date to Comot for Cardano Governance

DReps dey vote on Cardano governance actions using voting power wey ADA holders delegate give dem. Delegation dey allow holders to participate for governance through representative while dem still get full control of their assets.

On August 3, EMURGO announce say e resign from di Intersect board with immediate effect and e plan to deregister im DRep role later. Di company link both decisions to di work wey dem dey do to support users wey di SecondFi security incident affect.

SecondFi bin come as successor to EMURGO’s Yoroi wallet. When di company announce di change, e talk say di Yoroi name go continue on im own as DRep. After di incident, EMURGO decide to wind down SecondFi and Yoroi and support users to move their assets go another wallet.

Yoroi and EMURGO DRep Voting Power

According to Koios data for epoch 664, Yoroi get about 401.3 million ADA voting power from 15,174 delegators. Di EMURGO DRep get about 212.2 million ADA from 815 delegators. Both registrations active as at di time wey dem take snapshot.

Together, di two DReps represent about 12.1% of di 5.09 billion ADA wey dem delegate to active DReps. Dis calculation no include stake wey dem assign to di predefined Abstain and No Confidence voting options.

After deregistration, any stake wey no get active representative again no go count as active DRep voting power. Delegators fit make new governance choice by selecting another representative or one of di predefined options.

Cardano Staking Rewards and Governance Delegation

EMURGO don encourage delegators make dem choose another active DRep before di planned deregistration so dem fit continue to participate for governance and withdraw staking rewards. Under current Cardano rules, reward account must dey delegated to registered DRep or to di Abstain or No Confidence option before dem fit withdraw rewards. Rewards still fit dey accumulate; na di withdrawal di requirement cover.

Governance delegation different from delegation to stake pool. For di August announcement, EMURGO still talk say users wey dey migrate their SecondFi wallet go dey undelegated from both their pool and DRep and dem fit make new selections.
