DRepTalk Brings CIP-179 Surveys to Cardano Mainnet

DRepTalk released version 1.4.0 on September 12 with support for CIP-179 surveys on Cardano mainnet. DReps can now find a survey linked to a governance action, respond through a compatible wallet and submit the answer as a Cardano transaction.

CIP-179 Surveys Join Governance Discussions

CIP-179 defines a format for publishing surveys and responses through transaction metadata. The on-chain record can include eligible roles, the closing epoch and the structure of each question, allowing responses to be independently read and counted.

The proposal remains in Proposed status, but DRepTalk has already implemented it. The platform retrieves surveys through Tessera, the CIP-179 reference implementation, and connects them with governance actions imported into DRepTalk.

Eligible surveys appear beside their related governance discussions and receive separate threads in the new Surveys category. The platform only includes surveys linked to an imported action and open to DRep participation.

Responses Are Signed Through Cardano Wallets

A DRep must sign in with the corresponding identity and connect a wallet holding the same DRep key. DRepTalk assembles the transaction in the browser before sending it to the wallet for signing and submission.

Private keys never reach the platform. No deposit is required, although each response carries a network fee and requires a CIP-95-capable wallet. Script-based DReps, including multisignature representatives, can join discussions but cannot currently submit survey responses through the feature.

Standard surveys permanently expose the DRep credential, role and answers. Sealed surveys keep answers encrypted until the scheduled reveal time, while the credential and role remain public. A later response can replace an earlier one while the survey is open.

Survey responses remain separate from formal governance votes and do not affect the linked action’s tally. Because CIP-179 does not define weighting or aggregation, DRepTalk displays participation totals without publishing its own result.

Analytics Connect DReps With Delegators

Version 1.4.0 also introduces an analytics hub covering voting power concentration, DRep activity, stake pool operator and Constitutional Committee participation, voting timelines and governance outcomes.

The new My DRep page allows ADA holders to review their representative’s record from the date of delegation. Individual profiles now include activity report cards, while Governance Review summarizes decisions and shifts in voting power across defined epoch windows.

DRepTalk now connects governance proposals with related surveys, signed responses and representative records. DReps can document positions outside the formal vote tally, while delegators can compare those responses with the voting history attached to their delegated ADA.
