Cardano News - Daedalus 11.5.0 Fixes Mithril Sync on Cardano

Daedalus 11.5.0 was released on October 14, addressing a Mithril synchronization bug that could prevent Cardano’s full-node wallet from catching up with the network. The release continues development under Se7en Labs, which leads the wallet’s roadmap and operates its support services.

Mithril Fix Targets Incomplete Blockchain Data

The bug involved the most recent chunk of blockchain data stored on the user’s computer. During partial Mithril synchronization, that chunk could remain incomplete, causing the node to reject blocks or stop at the “Replaying ledger” stage.

Version 11.5.0 corrects the handling of that local data to prevent gaps from forming during synchronization.

The affected feature was introduced in Daedalus 11.1.0 in July. Partial Mithril synchronization allows existing installations that have fallen substantially behind the network to download the missing blockchain range without reinstalling the wallet.

Daedalus Keeps Cardano Validation Local

Daedalus is a desktop wallet for Windows, macOS, and Linux that runs a Cardano node on the user’s computer. It stores blockchain data locally and lets users manage wallets, send ADA, and delegate to stake pools.

For holders who keep ADA in Daedalus but open it infrequently, returning to the application can involve downloading and processing a substantial backlog of network activity.

Mithril shortens that process through cryptographically certified snapshots. Existing installations can use partial synchronization to download missing data rather than process every missed block sequentially, preserving the local-node setup while reducing the work required to catch up.

Linux Packages and Recovery Tools Expand

Linux users gain native packages for Debian, RPM-based distributions, Arch, and NixOS. The background watchdog also becomes the operating-system entry point responsible for managing the application’s process hierarchy.

On Windows, the release fixes a problem in which non-English characters in a computer’s name could prevent the node from starting or interrupt synchronization with a broken-pipe error. The bundled cardano-node has been updated to version 11.1.3.

A new Copy button transfers the complete diagnostic report to the clipboard for inclusion in a support request. The diagnostics dialog also provides a Mithril Sync option. After confirmation, it stops the node, restores blockchain data from a Mithril snapshot, and restarts the node, with progress and cancellation controls.

The release notes recommend upgrading all Daedalus installations. For users already affected by the synchronization bug, upgrading and recovering chain data remain separate steps: version 11.5.0 prevents new gaps, while an incomplete local database still requires repair or another synchronization.
