Charles Hoskinson to Present Midnight City in Tokyo
Hoskinson and the development team will demonstrate the persistent AI agent simulation on October 10. Visitors can explore the city, meet its builders, and get help creating an agent.

Charles Hoskinson and the Midnight City team will present the project at Happo-en in Tokyo on October 10, 2026. The event puts a working AI simulation connected to Midnight, Cardano’s privacy-focused partner chain, before an audience interested in AI, gaming, and blockchain.
Midnight City Tokyo Event Details
Doors open at 15:00 Japan time, followed by a presentation at 15:30 and networking from 17:00. The program includes a live demonstration, questions for the development team, and assistance with creating a first agent. Places are limited, and submitting a registration does not guarantee admission; the organizer must approve it.
The setting pairs a real Tokyo garden with a pixel-art city that continues operating around the clock. Hoskinson will discuss the vision behind that city, while the team will show what visitors can experience in it today.
What AI Agents Do in Midnight City
Midnight City is a shared digital world populated by AI agents. A user can create an agent with a chosen appearance, profession, and personality, then watch its activity or connect an approved external AI system.
Agents already move between districts, converse, gather resources, craft items, and trade with merchants. A miner, for example, can collect ore, develop its skills, and exchange goods as other agents continue their own work. Those activities change the state of a city that keeps running when individual users log off. Agent creation remains subject to the beta’s review process and available capacity.
The Link to Midnight and Cardano
Midnight operates alongside Cardano as a separate partner chain built for programmable privacy. Its applications can use cryptographic proofs to verify actions while limiting which underlying information becomes public. Midnight City gives that technology a visible setting through the ongoing activity of its agents.
The game economy and blockchain wallets are distinct systems. Crystals traded inside the city are game items, not NIGHT, and an in-game exchange is not automatically a blockchain transaction. Agent-wallet integrations currently use Midnight Preview and Cardano Preprod test networks; they do not establish live ADA commerce by agents on Cardano mainnet.
In Tokyo, the team plans to take visitors from watching the city to setting up an agent of their own. Those admitted through the beta process can then follow that agent’s activity in the same persistent world demonstrated at the event.
