New Transaction Views Reach Cardano Mainnet
Cexplorer rolled out its redesigned interface to Cardano mainnet on October 22, following earlier availability on the Preview and Preprod test networks.
The updated transaction page presents a short textual summary alongside a simplified visual representation of value movement. Users can begin with an explanation of the transaction before examining its individual inputs and outputs.
The team described the interface as rebuilt from the ground up, with some pages retaining familiar functionality and others receiving more substantial changes.
Cexplorer covers Cardano transactions, blocks, addresses, native assets, stake pools, and governance activity. The transaction-page changes address a common task across those services: understanding what happened after a user signs and submits a transaction.
Why Inputs Can Exceed the Payment Amount
Cardano transactions consume existing unspent outputs and create new ones. An input may contain more value than the payment requires, with the remainder returned to the sender as change.
For example, a payment funded from a larger output can show a substantial input total even when only a small amount moves to another party. Reading the input total as the amount paid can therefore lead to confusion.
The new summary and value-flow display provide an initial explanation of that movement. Users can then inspect the outputs to distinguish the payment, returned funds, and other components of the transaction.
This is particularly useful for people who recognize a transaction identifier but are unfamiliar with Cardano’s underlying accounting model.

Technical Records Remain Alongside the Overview
The redesigned page retains detailed inputs and outputs, preserving access to the records developers and analysts use for verification.
That matters when a transaction contains several assets, multiple recipients, or interactions with smart contracts. A brief description helps users navigate the record, while individual fields allow them to examine specific transfers.
The two views serve different stages of the same task. A payment recipient can start by checking the overview, then inspect the underlying entries if the amount or transaction structure requires clarification.
Following the mainnet rollout, Cexplorer requested feedback from users on the redesigned interface. The announcement did not specify a schedule for additional features.
