The official @x402/cardano release give developers installable components for clients, servers and payment facilitators, allow applications and AI agents to connect API access with payments in ADA or Cardano native tokens.

Cardano Foundation don announce say Cardano dey available now through the official x402 SDK, one open payment standard wey dem build around the HTTP 402 Payment Required status. Cardano code enter the x402 repository early September, but the standalone package don now publish for npm and e ready make people add am to TypeScript applications.
Official Cardano x402 Package Reach npm
The @x402/cardano package publish on September 18 as version 2.26.0. E provide separate modules for the client, server and facilitator components wey dem dey use process Cardano payments through x402.
The client dey prepare and sign Cardano transaction. The server dey define the price, accepted asset, network and recipient address for one protected digital resource. The facilitator dey verify say the signed transaction match those conditions and e go handle settlement.
Cardano support merge enter the official x402 SDK on September 9, cover mainnet, preprod and preview. That time, developers fit inspect and build the code from the repository, but the dedicated npm package never release.
The new publication don remove that installation gap. Cardano Foundation still share one demonstration wey developers fit run and adapt when dem dey add x402 payments to their own applications.
How x402 dey Process Cardano API Payments
X402 dey turn the HTTP 402 Payment Required status into programmable payment flow between client and server. Coinbase originally develop the protocol, and now the x402 Foundation under the Linux Foundation dey govern am.
When application or AI agent request paid API, the server fit return HTTP 402 response wey contain the price, Cardano network, accepted asset, recipient address and payment deadline. The client go sign transaction wey satisfy those conditions and resubmit the request with payment proof.
Facilitator go check the transaction and confirm settlement before the server release the requested data, computing capacity or any other digital resource. So the payment and access decision dey happen inside the same web request and response process.
The model allow API operator to charge for individual calls without need for traditional checkout page, prepaid balance or subscription. Service fit configure payment in ADA or any selected Cardano native token, although the operator must specify which assets e accept.
This structure dey designed for applications and autonomous agents wey need buy data or computing resources programmatically. E give Cardano standardized connection to services wey already build around the wider x402 protocol instead make each integration require separate payment format.
Cardano Facilitator don Complete Preprod Testing
Cardano Foundation still publish separate x402 facilitator wey dem develop for Java. The service implement the Cardano exact payment scheme and verify transactions wey user or agent don already sign. E no hold private keys and e no fit move funds on e own.
The facilitator support direct address payments, Masumi’s vested_pay escrow for AI agent transactions and configurable Plutus script transfers. The repository report 166 completed tests and one end-to-end transaction for Cardano preprod, cover transaction construction, signing, verification, settlement and independent onchain confirmation.
The service never test against Cardano mainnet. So the available implementation na preproduction-tested facilitator, no be publicly operating mainnet payment service.
The npm release don change wetin developers fit use today. Cardano x402 components no need make people build dem manually from the main repository again. Dem fit install am now as official package, connect am to the available demo and configure am with facilitator for application or agent payments. Production deployment still require supported asset settings, operational infrastructure and completed mainnet settlement testing.
