Cardano stake pool DRMZ co-hosted DEVOTION, an independent NFT community meetup held in San Diego on July 25 during Comic-Con weekend. DRMZ CEO and co-founder Rodrigo Gomez and community member Chilli were listed among the hosts, while the organization also helped provide gifts for confirmed attendees.
The event connected DRMZ with collectors, creators and fans from communities centered on VeeFriends, Pudgy Penguins and the wider Web3 ecosystem.
DEVOTION Connects NFT Communities in San Diego
The event, officially titled DEVOTION: When Passion Becomes Community | Comic-Con Weekend, was held at Doggos Gus near the San Diego Convention Center.
Organized by San Diego NFT Friends and Red Rug Edutainment, the meetup was designed for collectors and creators connected to the VeeFriends and Pudgy Penguins communities. The invitation was also extended to people interested in learning about those projects and meeting participants from other Web3 communities.
DEVOTION took place during Comic-Con weekend but was not part of the convention’s official program. Registration was free and subject to confirmation, with complimentary meals available to approved guests.
The official event listing named DRMZ Staking Pool and Upshot as supporters. San Diego NFT Friends also announced that both organizations would provide exclusive gifts for confirmed attendees.
DRMZ Combines Cardano Staking With Web3 Education
Founded in 2021, DRMZ operates a Cardano stake pool and organizes educational and community activities across Southern California. Its official website identifies Gomez as CEO and co-founder, as well as a Cardano Ambassador and English professor with more than 12 years of teaching experience.
ADA holders can delegate to the DRMZ pool through a compatible Cardano wallet while retaining custody and access to their funds. Delegated stake contributes to block production and the decentralization of the Cardano network.
DRMZ’s activities extend beyond stake pool infrastructure. The organization hosts local events in San Diego and Los Angeles, participates in Cardano governance and provides guidance on wallets, delegation and blockchain fundamentals.
It also runs Cardano Ministry, a weekly X Space covering Cardano projects, governance and broader blockchain developments. Another initiative, MorpheusAI, provides an interactive introduction to Cardano, governance and Web3 literacy.
Gomez and Chilli represented DRMZ at DEVOTION, extending those community activities into a gathering organized primarily for NFT collectors outside the Cardano ecosystem.
DEVOTION Organizers Consider an Annual Event
Post-event updates described DEVOTION as a community gathering centered on conversations, food and prizes. Valerie Carrillo of Red Rug Edutainment called the meetup a success and wrote, “We might have to make this an annual thing!”
Public event materials did not describe a separate Cardano booth, formal presentation, wallet setup session or staking demonstration. The organizers also did not publish attendance figures, new wallet totals, delegations or other Cardano-specific onboarding results.
No date, location or partner lineup has been announced for another DEVOTION edition. The July event nevertheless added a documented cross-community appearance to DRMZ’s existing work in Southern California, with Gomez and Chilli joining the host lineup and the organization contributing support and attendee gifts.
