The Cardano Foundation announced on October 9 that it is joining the University of Nicosia’s fall blockchain course, combining guest instruction with funded access to its advanced modules. The university had previously named the Cardano contributors and sponsorships in its announcement of the 2026 program, which began on September 28.
Cardano Academy Brings Network Fundamentals to the Course
John Greene, a technical writer at the Cardano Foundation who creates educational scripts and animations for Cardano Academy, is among the guest instructors. The published schedule places him alongside UNIC’s Apostolos Kourtis in the session on Ethereum and programmable blockchains.
The Foundation will teach Cardano fundamentals within a curriculum covering several blockchain systems. Its participation draws on Academy’s existing educational work, which includes Cardano architecture, staking, governance, and smart contract development.
The University of Nicosia retains responsibility for the curriculum, assessments, and certification. Guest sessions from industry practitioners form part of that academic program.
Masumi Adds an AI Agent Perspective
Patrick Tobler, co-founder of Masumi Network and founder and CEO of NMKR, will participate in the final session on the convergence of blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. He is listed alongside Professor George Giaglis for that advanced-track session.
Masumi provides Cardano-based infrastructure for payments between AI agents, verifiable identities, and service discovery. Developers can use its contracts to hold payment for commissioned work and settle it when delivery is confirmed.
The wider instructor lineup includes contributors associated with Ripple, Trezor, and Avalanche. Their sessions cover programmable blockchains, wallet security, decentralized finance, and tokenization alongside university faculty.
Cardano Funds 25 Advanced Track Places
The course is a massive open online course, or MOOC. According to the university, it has attracted more than 150,000 learners from over 120 countries since its launch in 2014.
Its first eight weeks are free. The Advanced Track adds four weeks covering NFTs and digital ownership, regulation, blockchain scaling, and the convergence of blockchain with AI and other emerging technologies.
Advanced access costs €199. The Foundation’s 25 sponsored places cover that access, representing a combined value of €4,975. Advanced learners also receive extended access to course materials and archives, with a blockchain-verifiable university certificate available after successful completion.
Greene’s programmable-blockchain session is included in the free introductory track. The sponsored advanced places extend access to the later modules, including the closing blockchain and AI session featuring Tobler and Giaglis.
