The Cardano Foundation and the Venture Accelerator at UCLA Anderson School of Management announced a multi-year education and entrepreneurship partnership on September 28. Cardano Academy content will enter blockchain education at UCLA beginning in 2027, while five companies in the UCLA Accelerate program will receive funding and mentorship through Cardano Fellowships. The arrangement gives the Cardano ecosystem a direct route to students and founders developing new businesses.
Cardano Academy Content Enters UCLA Blockchain Education
Cardano Academy materials and use cases will be incorporated into UCLA blockchain education, including Blockchain Cryptocurrency Applications in Business and Finance, a course taught by UCLA Anderson alumnus Alex Nascimento. The Foundation said students will work with practical applications and project-based learning beginning in 2027. It has not identified additional courses or published a detailed syllabus for the Cardano material.
The partnership’s first scheduled event is Cardano for the Real World, a three-hour masterclass at UCLA Anderson on October 19. Led by Nascimento, the session will cover enterprise Web3, decentralized AI agent infrastructure, and practical blockchain applications. Students will work in teams on Web3 business concepts, deliver short pitches, and explore AI-assisted smart contract development.
Five Cardano Fellowships Within UCLA Accelerate
Five selected early-stage companies participating in UCLA Accelerate will receive sponsored Cardano Fellowships. The announced support includes funding, mentorship, and engagement with the Cardano ecosystem.
Participating companies will have an opportunity to explore building on Cardano; the Foundation has not described a requirement to launch a Cardano application or disclosed the value of each fellowship.
Accelerate is an existing five-month UCLA program for companies looking to develop beyond an initial product. It offers mentor matching, weekly advisory sessions, access to specialists, and workspace. UCLA says applications for its next cycle open October 1, with the program running from January through May.
As of August 2026, 193 companies had participated in Accelerate. The timing and selection criteria for the five Cardano Fellowships have not been published.
From UCLA Classrooms to Potential Cardano Products
The partnership connects two stages of product development. Cardano Academy will introduce students to blockchain applications through teaching and practical exercises. The fellowships will give selected founders funding and access to mentors as they assess whether Cardano fits their products. The Foundation also plans to connect founders with its Venture Hub, which supports ventures through technical and business guidance.
The Cardano Foundation will sponsor the 2027 UCLA Draper Innovation Showcase, adding educational programming, founder engagement, and networking to an event that brings startups into contact with investors and the wider UCLA entrepreneurial community. That sponsorship applies to the 2027 edition, separate from the Showcase scheduled for October 2026.
The October 19 masterclass is the partnership’s first scheduled activity. Course integration and the sponsored Showcase follow in 2027; the five fellowship recipients and any products they choose to develop have yet to be named.
