Cardano Dev Skills Gives AI Agents a Cardano Knowledge Layer
The community-curated project gives AI coding agents current Cardano documentation and task-focused development workflows. Giovanni Gargiulo says the goal is to reduce errors caused by outdated training data, APIs and libraries.

Cardano Dev Skills is building an open knowledge layer for developers using AI coding agents on Cardano (ADA). Speaking during Cardano Over Coffee on September 10, Giovanni Gargiulo explained how the project gives agents Cardano-specific documentation and development context instead of relying primarily on information embedded in model training data.
The project is designed to help AI agents work with Cardano development tools, standards and transaction models using more relevant technical context.
Cardano Dev Skills Targets Outdated AI Knowledge
Cardano's development stack continues to change across smart contract languages, SDKs, governance functionality and transaction tooling. That creates a problem for AI models whose built-in knowledge may reflect older versions of libraries or documentation.
Gargiulo described this as one of the practical reasons for creating Cardano Dev Skills. When an agent is asked to construct a transaction or generate application code, outdated knowledge can lead it toward an obsolete API or implementation.
Cardano Dev Skills instead provides structured documentation and task-oriented instructions that an agent can consult while working on Cardano-specific development tasks.
The approach is content-focused. Rather than adding another execution layer, it gives AI development tools access to technical context they can use while generating or reviewing code.
From Aiken Validators to Wallets and Transactions
The project covers a broad range of Cardano development tasks.
During the Space, Gargiulo discussed transaction building, Cardano Improvement Proposals, the eUTxO model, smart contracts and development across different programming environments. Aiken and multiple off-chain tooling options were also part of the discussion.
He described using the approach to help generate transaction code and work across development stacks rather than manually locating every relevant implementation detail.
Gargiulo also discussed an experimental marketplace built through an AI-assisted workflow that included Aiken code, off-chain components, backend and indexing infrastructure, and a simple frontend.
For developers building applications that interact with ADA and other Cardano native assets, the system is intended to give the coding agent Cardano-specific context before it starts producing code.
Community Contributions Expand the Knowledge Layer
Cardano Dev Skills is structured as a community resource rather than documentation for a single application.
Gargiulo described contributions and collaboration involving developers connected with Blink Labs, Harmonic Labs, Masumi and transaction tooling in the wider Cardano ecosystem. Bora was also credited during the Space for reviewing and improving parts of the project.
The discussion also highlighted a change in how technical documentation can be prepared as AI becomes part of everyday development. Documentation can increasingly be structured so agents can identify the correct source, understand the relevant context and apply it to a specific task.
Cardano Dev Skills puts that model into practice by giving contributors a shared place to improve the technical context AI coding agents use when building, reviewing and debugging Cardano applications.
