Cardano Community Honors Jenny Brito’s Work in Farewell X Space

Maureen Wepngong organized the gathering after Brito decided to end her regular hosting role. Participants used the Space to reflect on Brito’s community work and discuss whether Cardano Over Coffee can operate without the person who maintained much of its daily rhythm.

Cardano Over Coffee is a recurring community-led X Space where Cardano builders, governance participants, project teams, and newcomers discuss ecosystem developments. Brito helped sustain the format for more than four years.

Cardano Contributors Join Surprise Farewell Space

Wepngong said she did not want Brito to quietly leave the daily role and invited long-time collaborators to share their experiences of working with her.

Speakers included Anvil CEO Cash Soesbee, Cardano ambassador Lucas Macchiavelli, governance participant Ken-Erik Ølmheim, Blockfrost’s Beatrice Anihiri, Mike Hornan, Jarhead, and Nigerian community contributor Mubarak “Kit Willow” Oladimeji.

Soesbee recalled the early Cardano NFT period, when creators and projects were still trying to establish audiences. According to him, Brito supported artists before they had large communities or clear commercial traction. She frequently purchased one work from several different creators instead of concentrating her support on a single collection.

Macchiavelli spoke about relationships that developed from online conversations into personal friendships. He also described transferring responsibilities as a normal part of community development, with initiatives becoming less dependent on individual contributors over time.

Ølmheim highlighted Brito’s work outside public discussions, including checking on community members who were going through difficult periods. Hornan delivered a poem referencing her involvement in governance testing in Indianapolis, governance parameter discussions, the Interim Constitutional Committee, and Cardano events in Argentina and Canada.

The speakers described Cardano Over Coffee as more than a recurring social broadcast. The Space provided new participants with a place to ask questions, introduce projects, and establish connections across different parts of the Cardano ecosystem.

Jenny Brito Addresses Burnout and Her Next Role

During the conversation, Brito repeatedly distinguished her departure from Cardano Over Coffee’s daily schedule from leaving Cardano itself.

“I’m not leaving. I’m here. I’m just gonna do other things,” she said, adding that the community may ultimately hear more from her after the change.

Brito explained that the sustained commitment had gradually led to burnout. Her participation in Cardano eventually narrowed almost entirely to hosting Cardano Over Coffee, after which she would disengage from other ecosystem activity.

She stopped regularly joining other Spaces, exploring new projects, and testing products being developed across Cardano. Those activities had previously helped her meet contributors, understand emerging initiatives, and develop new ideas.

Stepping away from the daily schedule should allow her to resume exploring the ecosystem, participate in different conversations, and develop her own projects. She did not rule out hosting other Spaces but said she no longer wanted the obligation of maintaining the same recurring format.

“I need to also focus on building stuff that are mine,” Brito said.

She also described a shift from advising organizations about what they should create to developing practical solutions herself. Her goal is to build those ideas and bring completed work to the ecosystem rather than remaining primarily in an advisory or supporting role.

Cardano Over Coffee Moves Beyond Its Daily Anchor

Brito assumed greater responsibility for Cardano Over Coffee after its previous host considered ending the program. She initially stepped in to preserve a community space that was already in use and gradually became its most consistent and recognizable host.

In the farewell Space, Brito acknowledged that this consistency created a dependency. As long as she remained available to fill scheduling and organizational gaps, other participants did not have to assume full responsibility for keeping the program running.

She said efforts to empower a community can have the opposite effect when one person repeatedly completes every unfinished task. Remaining in the same role would make it difficult to determine whether Cardano Over Coffee could operate as a community-led format without relying on her as its organizational anchor.

The farewell Space therefore marked a transfer of responsibility rather than Brito’s departure from Cardano. Cardano Over Coffee is moving forward without her daily presence, while Brito is redirecting her participation toward ecosystem exploration, new conversations, and products she intends to build under her own direction.
