Cardano Browser Node Experiments Advance in TypeScript and Haskell
Gerolamo don produce second block for Cardano Preview, while one separate Haskell prototype don follow the chain and submit transaction from web browser. The two experiments dey move different parts of Cardano node infrastructure closer to the user device.

Cardano developers don report new results from two independent node experiments. Harmonic Labs expand Gerolamo testing pass empty block, while Seungheon Oh show say e fit run Haskell node stack for inside browser through WebAssembly. Both still be experimental, and none show production block producer wey dey run completely inside browser.
Gerolamo Produces a Second Cardano Preview Block
Gerolamo na alternative Cardano node implementation wey dem write for TypeScript and e dey run with the Bun runtime. Harmonic Labs dey develop the project under founder Michele Nuzzi, and dem don make the source code public.
The first block wey dem attribute to Gerolamo enter Cardano Preview on September 12. E empty and e serve as first test to see whether the alternative implementation fit produce block wey Cardano protocol rules go accept.
Second block follow on September 14 and e carry three transactions. According to info wey the team publish, the transactions include one smart contract execution and one on-chain message. So the test move from empty block to block wey carry transaction activity.
Gerolamo don also synchronize the Preview chain from genesis reach current tip while e dey validate chain data. The server implementation dey support Cardano node to node protocols, optional local client communication, Mithril bootstrap and subset of Blockfrost style API functions.
Available documentation never talk full Praos leadership as completed part of the project. Harmonic Labs never publish complete technical account of the forging path wey dem use for the two Preview blocks. The network accept the blocks and the team attribute them to Gerolamo, but public evidence never show say the block producer dey operate inside web browser.
Cardano Gains Two Different Browser Node Approaches
Alongside Gerolamo, Harmonic Labs dey develop Gerolamino, lighter implementation wey dem design for web browsers and Chrome extension. Gerolamino no be the same software instance wey produce the Preview blocks.
The public demonstration allow browser to communicate with Cardano relay through the Ouroboros Handshake, ChainSync and BlockFetch mini protocols. E fit follow headers and blocks, process CBOR data and use IndexedDB and WebWorkers for local storage and computation.
WebSocket to TCP bridge currently dey connect the browser with external Preprod relay because web applications no fit open standard TCP connections directly to the Cardano network.
Planned development include Mithril support for faster initial synchronization, local UTxO indexing and communication interface wey resemble existing Cardano wallet standards. That model fit allow web applications verify more information for the user device instead of to request every response from remote API.
Separate from Harmonic Labs, developer Seungheon Oh demonstrate Haskell Cardano node wey dey run inside browser through the GHC WebAssembly backend. The demonstration include following the chain tip, display ADA balance and submit transaction from the browser.
The Cardano Hard Fork Working Group record the demonstration on September 15 as development wey relate to node diversity. Oh never release the source code, and the demonstration no include block production. The prototype therefore never fit make independent review or detailed comparison with the production Haskell cardano-node software.
Local Verification Could Change Cardano dApp Infrastructure
Cardano wallets and decentralized applications dey frequently use remote services to access blockchain data, locate UTxOs, check balances and submit transactions. This infrastructure dey make development easier but e create dependency on API providers, indexers and their availability.
Browser node functionality fit shift part of that process go the user device. Application fit follow the Cardano chain locally, process blocks and verify the information wey e wan use before e prepare or submit transaction. Local access fit also reduce the number of addresses and data requests wey dem send to centralized API services.
For developers, this architecture fit support Cardano applications wey still dey functional if individual indexer or backend provider go down. Multiple independently developed access paths fit strengthen application resilience when dem dey validate data according to the same Cardano protocol rules.
The approach fit also allow wallets and decentralized applications verify UTxOs and ADA balances closer to the user instead of to treat remote service as only source of blockchain state. Gerolamo add independently developed TypeScript implementation, while the work of Oh dey explore how the established Haskell stack fit operate through WebAssembly.
The current prototypes no remove the need for external infrastructure. Gerolamino still dey use WebSocket bridge and external relay, while broader local synchronization must consider browser storage, memory, bandwidth and indexing limits. Mithril snapshots, network peers and transaction submission routes still remain part of the architecture.
Public demonstrations wey dey now cover TypeScript node wey produce Preview blocks, browser light node wey dey use Ouroboros mini protocols and separate Haskell prototype wey fit follow the chain and submit transactions. Production relay or block producer wey dey operate entirely inside browser never dey documented. The immediate change narrower: Cardano applications fit begin move part of blockchain verification from remote services go the user device.
