Cardano Enter Agriculture Data Infrastructure Through 5am.Earth

5am.Earth, Syngenta Foundation India and AI Quant don present the progress of one project wey dey use Cardano as infrastructure for verifiable agriculture data. The initiative dey focus on building one trust layer for agricultural supply chains, to connect field data, farmers, farms, digital identities and future financial or market services.

5am.Earth dey designed as information layer wey dey record agricultural data for format wey people fit verify on blockchain. For the current phase, the system dey focus on farm boundaries, farmer identification, agri entrepreneur identification and one sustainability index.

During the session, the team talk say the project don already generate more than 9,000 transactions on Cardano and e dey approach the 10,000 transaction mark. AI Quant show 9,271 total transactions at one point for the presentation, including 8,455 newly created or corrected farm boundaries and 7,561 unique farmers. Later screen come show the number rise to 9,296 transactions.

Those transactions dey connected to field registration data, including farm IDs, farmer IDs, agri entrepreneur IDs and location data for farm boundaries. The system still support later corrections, and updates dey recorded on blockchain too.

Syngenta Foundation India Bring the Agri Entrepreneur Network

Syngenta Foundation India carry one existing agri entrepreneur model enter the project. Na local entrepreneurs be these people wey dey work with farmers for villages and dey help dem access technology, knowledge and market services.

One representative of Syngenta Foundation India explain say the model come to solve the last mile delivery challenge for agriculture. Technology alone no fit scale if trusted person no dey for the local community to help farmers use new tools. So the foundation dey identify rural youth, train dem as agri entrepreneurs and enable dem to support farmers for their own communities.

Syngenta Foundation India currently point to network of more than 26,000 agri entrepreneurs wey connect to approximately 2.6 million farmers. The long term ambition na to expand the model beyond India, especially across Asia and Africa, with target of up to 500,000 agri entrepreneurs and more than 100 million smallholder farmers.

For this Cardano implementation, agri entrepreneurs dey use one application wey connect to the 5am.Earth infrastructure layer. Data then pass through smart contract based oracle and connect with the Cardano mainnet. AI Quant talk say the first phase dey record farm boundary data and sustainability index information on blockchain, while wallet infrastructure and DID infrastructure dey under development as additional layers.

The system allow agri entrepreneurs to log into the app, identify farms and verify land boundaries. AI first process these boundaries, then local operators fit confirm or adjust dem with farmers before the data go the blockchain.

Field Work Target 100,000 Farms

Deepak from Syngenta Foundation India describe how implementation dey work on ground. Field teams dey visit villages, identify operational and technical challenges, train agri entrepreneurs, provide local language materials, demonstrate the app and support the first farmer registrations.

Dem develop the process in phases. First, the team visit villages and test real field conditions. Then dem test the model with smaller group of agri entrepreneurs to understand how many registrations fit complete inside single day. By the end of March 2026, the project don reach the first 1,000 registered farmers. After that, implementation expand with additional field team members.

According to the discussion, one field member fit support registration of around 120 to 150 farmers per day. With six field members, daily capacity dey approximately 750 farmers. The project now dey move toward target of 100,000 farms for the coming months.

The field environment still bring practical challenges. The team mention internet connectivity issues, differences for mobile device quality and work for regions wey temperatures fit pass 50 degrees Celsius. Even under those conditions, the app and satellite processed data dey allow teams to identify land more efficiently and complete farmer registration from single location.

The next phase include two parallel tracks. One na direct field work with agri entrepreneurs. The other na digital education flow through the app, including Andamio and on chain credentials for agri entrepreneurs. The project plan to compare the results of both tracks and optimize the model for larger scale deployment.

For Cardano, this implementation dey move focus toward data infrastructure outside the usual crypto market.
